Private driving instructor at CDC
Hi,
if anyone is still having any enquiries about Steven Chua (3A instructor at CDC), i would recommend you to not waste your money.
i was his student last year, and he was only nice to me during the first lesson. thereafter, he has been rude and hostile! very impatient also. and he likes to cancel on you last minute. spent about 20+ lessons with him, total waste of money. 5-6 lessons we didn't do much, only drove around ubi area. i guess it's a norm for such old driving instructors to fall asleep during lesson, but he likes to shortchange students by starting lesson slightly late and ending it a few minutes early.
what also pissed me off was that he jacked up his car rental fee for TP to $250. i spent about 340~ for my TP in total!! such a rip off omg. (i only spent less than $280 for my 2nd TP under school)
i actually got to know him via le driving instructors. wanted to change my instructor but i figured, their instructors may probably be from the same flock of uncles always at the coffee shop next to cdc. so ok, i decided to just try my luck and if i fail, i'll just switch to CDC's express course.
so after failing my TP the first time and switching to the express course, i found out that i was penalised for things and techniques that he had taught me. and also, he didn't teach me a lot of things.
ALL IN ALL, if you are really a noobie and know 0 **** about driving, i would highly recommend you to go to school instead. but ok la, if you have had experience in driving and only need a few lessons, then private is the way to go. most of my friends who went to school passed their TP on their first try. yes, you may think it's expensive. but it's even more expensive when you fail more than once with a private instructor. what's more, you have to pay extra $30~ everytime you have a lesson in circuit. on average, you would need about 5-6 lessons in circuit. that's easily $150! whereas in school, you don't have to deal with such annoying hidden costs.
also, most private instructors that i know of aren't really up to standard. and i also know of a few that may deliberately want you to fail so that they can eat your money whenever you fail. of course, there are always exceptions. but good luck to whoever's taking TP!
