Hi guys, It's my first post here. and I have a few questions to ask.
Up till now who has booked TP and how much does your PDI charge you for the circuit in May 22? I am currently taking under Mr Robert Chee 98601549, which i kinda regret already because I have booked the TP under his NRIC. I am already into my 4th lesson and i have not even learned anything about parking. Only learned driving straight, uTurn, changing gears)

I find him pretty suspicious.
I got his contacts from one of the user who posted it up here who said Mr Robert Chee is patient and stuff, well, and i have budget limit so i made it a point to inform him that I intend to take about 10-15 lessons or so. Which he agreed on our first lesson. & Just last week, he said it's fine for me to take one lesson per week for now as my TP is on May, but he said i need to take 2lessons per week for next month. HELLO, my TP is at the end of May. So see, here's the problem, during our 3rd lesson, i didn't learn anything new and was only practising on the road, so after lesson when I asked when would i be learning Parking, he told me not to rush, and asked if i wanna pass on first try. Who wouldn't want to pass on first try. My only concern was the budget limit. I do feel threatened by what he said though. i guess the tone played a part.
And like most instructors, he charge enrolment fees of $50. and i take 1.5hours with him, about $43 each lesson.
So last week he told me to that my circuit cost $45(My other friends who took at ssdc said it costed him about $35 only. the other friends who took at CDC about $50+) on that day of exam itself and he asked me to bring it next lesson. So, as a newbie, i am not so sure if he is cheating my money, because that's what i think he is.
FYI, to the newbies out there, once you booked the TP under an instructor's NRIC, there is no way to remove his nric except cancellation of TP. The other way out would be talking to the instructor whose NRIC you used, asking him if he is okay to let you use his NRIC even though you may not want him to teach you anymore. (Personally, i have yet to try asking my instructor)

Not say he is not good, but i feel that he is wasting my time and cheating my money, partly because i have budget limit, else i believe i would recommend him to others who don't mind patient but taking long time to teach you kinda instructor.

So now, i think if later on, if he is not teach me parking, i will find another instructor and let him teach me those necessary things because i feel that it will be pointless for me to keep going to Robert and not learning anything, I do understand that practise is important but because i am on budget, i do hope he can teach me what i have to learn first.

My second alternative would be Patrick Ong.
Anyone has got reviews on Patrick Ong and Robert Chee?

FYI, parking is taught is the third stage of the curriculum if you go to school, which is like lesson no 25 or something.

If any of you are learning at ssdc under private for auto car. Please do not sign up with Mr Charles Chua. He is a ****ing daylight robber.

For my first TP, he charge me 350 for renting of his car. I paid 50 for using the circuit for my warm up. He even give me a paper showing me that SSDC inform us that the circuit for warm up will increase . _l_ ******* la. After that he charge me 70 ++ , i asked him why ? He replied it is for my lesson fee, but hello if lesson should be 45. He count the hours I will use for TP in also. WTF ( shouldnt it be in the cost for renting?)

So i paid him like 470 for one ****ing TP. He still tell me if I fail once, the second time to book his car will be 500 (w/o adding the ridiculous charges he told me )

And for my circuit i used to pay him 26. Actually should only be 22 -.-

In addition to that, he takes one or maybe 2 whole lesson to teach one category, and he sometimes eat and watches video on his phone while you are driving.

In the end I changed tester to Mr Ng (He talks alot, but is a very nice instructor)
He told me to book TP for his car only 180. Additional will be warm up circuit 28 + parking in the slot 15 + warm up lesson fee 42.
AND I PASSED MY TP YESTERDAY!!! :)

SSDC is charging additional fee for "Circuit Rental for Practical Test" from feb2013 onwards. This affects private candidates only. They did not increase the warm up circuit charge.

Er actually it is not fixed, isnt it?
Depends on how steady you are and which stage you are at. Some only learned 10+ lessons. So you mean they didnt learn parking since 20+ then can learn?
P.S i am learning from PDI.

According to the curriculum, parking is at the third stage, which is around 20+ lesson.

But in reality, if you are good, you can clear 2-3 lesson in a session. So for the average learner, don't need to wait till 20+. After 10+ lessons can learn liao.

BAD EXPERIENCE WITH MY PDI

I'm just here to rant and share my bad experience with this instructor i had in Yishun. Shall just name him X. So i got introduced to X last may from my boyfriend. I had my first 4-5 lesson conducted in a car park, learning how to halfclutch, change gear, u-turn, accelerate, etc. After so many lessons, i finally got to go on road.
Okay, into road lessons.. He's always 5-10 mins late without fail, going for toilet breaks 9/10 lessons, each time about 5-7mins, using lesson time to pump petrol, which i dont mind if it's a few times. But after a first time, he kept on using my time to do it.
So we practice driving on road for about 40mins each time, (my lesson was 1.5hr) then spend 30 mins in the car park learning dir. change and parking. Each time during lesson, i ask him questions, he will not reply seriously. always joking around, i dont know when he's serious and when's not.
He would always ask me to "scare" other cars on road for nothing. If he's unhappy with the car behind me, changing lane w/o signal, he would keep pulling the handbreak to scare the person, or just honk. He also always talk crap to me during lesson, asking me to see nonsensical things which i am not interested in.
3 weeks ago, when its nearing my TP, which is today, i made 4 booking of lessons with him. 12, 13, 20, 21(TP). on the 10th, i called to confirm my 12th lesson because i wanted all 4 days to practice circuit. guess what? he said "WHEN DID YOU BOOK? DONT HAVE LAH. 13 THEN HAVE" And FYI, he always lie to students. Taking my slot, to give others, then call me to say he sick or whatsoever, in the end blaming me that i always dont want to learn. So, okay. i bear with him. every circuit lesson, he takes his own sweet time, ended up i have only less than an hour in it. HOW CAN LIKE THAT!?
So today, i had my TP. I was lost like nobody's business. I totally had too many doubt which he ALWAYS REFUSE TO ANSWER. On our way to SSDC, i asked him to point out my mistakes so that i can immediately learn from it. But he said "AIYA ITS OKAY ONE LA. CAN ONE" ok, so i kept quiet again.. And this time, he used my time to go to the gas station again, this time peeing + chatting with the worker there for 15mins. i was totally pissed. It was my TP day and he is so inconsiderate, wasting my time.
In circuit, he did not allow me to do what i am still not confident with. I am bad with doing slopes, and i have to literally BEG him to let me do it. i said, "LET ME DO SLOPE. PLEASE. JUST ONCE. PLEASE! I PROMISE!" he kept rejecting, i kept pestering, then he agreed to do ONCE.
As expected, i failed my TP. Even more expected that he's happy. I have not booked another TP date, hope to CHANGE PDI. ANY GOOD RECOMMENDATIONS FOR MANUAL PDI IN WOODLANDS AREA?
Much appreciated!
