despite the constant flame of "advertising" by senior members of the forum, i'm still gonna post for the benefit of the rest of the community.

i'll recommend le driving instructors if you're looking for a private instructor. you can access them via facebook, well they helped me so i don't mind sharing with you guys. I am in no way related to their company, just a learner who benefited from their services.

STAY AWAY! - Lim Boon Seng Driving Service (BBDC)

Other people have said it many times on this forum, and it is true - STAY AWAY from Lim Boon Seng Driving Service. It is run by Mr Lim and a couple other PDIs under him, including a Mr Ng. Registered at BBDC with a Gombak MRT pickup point. Mr Lim manages most of the bookings, while lessons (at least mine) were always with Mr Ng. Things may seem fine at first, but that's until Mr Lim himself makes a mistake in scheduling and turns completely unprofessional and unreasonable on you. He even sounded very nice the first few times I called, until the following happened and he flipped 180 degrees in attitude.

Here are the things that happened.

(1) I got booked in for a slot I never even asked for, and when I wasn't there (obviously, since I didn't even know), I was texted and blamed for it by Mr Lim. -> This happened to other people in this forum as well.

(2) Another slot I booked was actually double-booked by Mr Lim. Mr Lim's response to my SMS booking request was "OK", which anyone would assume means I can have the slot. But when I turned up, another student was booked in at the same time.

When I called Mr Lim to ask about it, (a) he claimed he replied me that the slot was unavailable, which he DID NOT as I clearly have SMS proof, and then (b) proceeded to shout at me over the phone whether I can read or not. As it was clearly his own scheduling mistake, his response and attitude was utterly unprofessional and unacceptable.

While I was still on the phone trying to sort the matter out with Mr Lim, my usual PDI Mr Ng, who works under Mr Lim, simply drove away with the other student without a word even AFTER I told him about this double-booking issue. I guess as long as someone turns up and pays them, these people really couldn't care less.

(4) Over a period of 5 weeks, I enquired at least 4 times about booking my driving test. I've already had 18 lessons so far. The response I got from him was always "OK, OK", but after that no action, no nothing. Almost feels as if my practical test booking was being dragged out on purpose. Even until now - nothing.

- - -

So yes, like many before me on this forum I'd strongly advise people to stay away from Boon Seng Driving Service (BBDC), unless you want to be shouted at and insulted for mistakes Mr Lim himself has made in scheduling.

As I understand from others in this forum, Mr Lim is also very irresponsible in booking circuit practice slots before your test. Some people only get one before their actual test date. I will definitely be looking for another PDI now, and am quite glad I've seen the horrible, irresponsible side of this man - better now than too late (like right before my practical test).

Mr Ng Chin Lye is definitely smone I would recommend to my friends if they want to learn driving. He is patient, and very fatherly. He exhibits confidence and has 34 years (as of 2013) of teaching experience. He would even draw out scenarios to help you better understand what you should do during difference situations. I can feel that he is proud of himself as a PDI, and I am glad to have gotten him to be my PDI. :) But his lessons are really quite packed, so I think if anyone wants to learn driving from him to contact him quick. :)

i was ex student of the Ng Chin Lye also

i gave up after like 5 lessson

i would say morally he should be ok (based on my few lesson exp) but he is damn proud of himself always say he highest passing rate every lesson!

but i'm quite irrirated with him coz got once i was so sick so i called him the day b4 to cancel lesson n he not happy questioning me if I sick real not next lesson show me your MC.

super irrirating i really bought the mc then he nag say only once ah next time will need to pay. although i understand they also need to eat but i nv hear of PDI ask people bring MC

any he always want you to memorise the way you hold steering wheel the degree must be exactly, etc etc... and most impt i change PDI is he is so packed and not flexible with the timing
