For people like him (scholar), no matter how well or how bad they are doing in their "jobs", they will always, ALWAYS have cushy govt jobs (see Ng Yat Chung and Ng Chee Meng..but it's actually ALL of them. These are just 2 of the high profile pathetic failure but fail-upwards types.

He once boasted in public that he saw flooding when he left his house for work and took another route and avoided the jam, and felt really proud and lucky in achieving it. Didn't even bother to wayang to help his fellow residents. This kind no-empathy type is more suited in his current hide-in-one-corner-so-no-one-notices-me (and jiak liow bee high income) job.

He actually was given successive increasing responsibilities from Japan to China to USA.

I partly agreed with you on Ng Yat Chung and that is why I said yes and no.

But try not underestimate or even look down on public servant jobs in your hatred of PAP.
