There's no such thing as enforced or being carried out. If there are then those Malay Muslims whom are caught & found eating during fasting month would be in trouble. & you would see raids in those cheapo hotels by the Islamic Officers.

Don't try to misaligned others coming to a conclusion that Syariah Laws are the same as Hudud Laws...these 2 are 2 different laws.

I'm assuming TS is a convert & wants to renounce Islam & also might be caught in a divorce situation which in this case have to follow Syariah Law but again if cannot resolve Syariah Court will get both parties to attend Family Court(I'm assuming OK).

Hudud is part of Shariah. It's misleading and ridiculous to claim they are different.

I am very sorry if this may seem inappropriate to post, however I am really in need of help.
I have been actively researching on how to renounce Islam legally in Singapore for the past 2 months. I even found a facebook page for Ex-Muslims saying that I should get a deedpoll and change my name.

I do not wish to change my name, I only want to renounce it officially so I may no longer be bound under their syariah laws.
I am calling out to anyone who has done this before to please help me.
Every organisations I have contacted are avoiding this matter like the plague be it government or private.
Muis is not even answering my concerns its aggravating.

I am an athiest and I only wish to free myself from the syariah law.

Yours is a common issue with those in Singapore wanting to renounce Islam. Even a secular country like Singapore one has great difficulty renouncing Islam. Let this be a lesson to those that think joining a religion or leaving it is no different from removing oneself from a yoga course. Not every religion is the same.

You say you have contacted former Muslims. Is this Singapore's Council of ex-Muslims? If you did then I am surprised they have not been able to assist you.

Someone must know the required steps to renounce Islam in Singapore and these steps should be made known to all who want to go through with their wishes.

More Muslims who want to renounce Islam should be able to do so much more easily than what currently is being accorded to them. You have your MP to seek out as a second recourse and then it's the PM.

Simply update your religious status with ICA, contrary to any idiots , in islam there's no compulsion in religion.

if a marriage is involved then you need to approach shariah court. As inheritence ,marriage and death comes under shariah law.

It would be political suicide for any politician or political party. They will err on the side of caution and ask the Muslim to speak to his religious leaders about it i.e. forget the whole idea, just accept it and move on.
