“We are aware that per square foot rents for privately owned HDB shops have seen a steep increase recently,” she said.

Rental rates for privately held HDB shop units have more than doubled over the past year, while rents for shops leased by HDB have remained mostly stable, reported the Straits Times in early September.

So is rental a problem or not a problem? Can make up your mind?

Either u select data to tell us "rental cost does not make up bulk of the cost" like Amy did, or u stick to the rhetoric that rental cost is high.

I mean... At this point I don't think anyone actually believes that data isn't used to paint performative optics by gov right?

No ABSD for commercial properties is a huge mistake. Too late to implement, screwed.

In other words, the govt continues to DEVALUE the purchasing power of every Singdollar in existence, and selectively refunds the lost value ONLY to CUSTOMERS of those ESSENTIAL SERVICES OPERATING at HDB shops (most likely, clinics/dentists/medical/food/grocery).

In other words, govt intends continue its policy of TAXING every saver through inflation via the fractional banking system.

If the govt is sincere in halting the rent rise, it would stop the banks from lending to commercial property in the first place. Most of these privately held HDB shops are bought with bank loans. The owners actually DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH CAPITAL to buy them at current price.
