Replacement for AMD HD7850

My MSI 7850 just died on me after almost 5 years of service..... Looking to get a replacement of equal or slightly higher processing power, don't need much of an upgrade as all I need is to play FIFA at max settings at 75fps... Currently looking at a 2nd hand r9 280x for about $120, any other options to consider as my budget is fairly tight (under 200)

edit: Freesync would be great as I have a monitor that supports it (and not gsync)

2nd hand 280x is a great choice. Although it does not have Freesync, the card should be powerful enough to push around 100+ fps at 1080p.

Make sure you have a beefy power supply to support it. Recommended is around 500W.

Only R9 285, R9 290, R9 290X+ will be compatible with Freesync.

If you want a Freesync, R9 290. BE Warned! Need 650W+ PSU!

Thanks for the thorough reply! Had no idea the 280x does not support freesync....

As for the 290, those cards are tempting but my current MATX case will not be able to fit them (max 9inch haha) Maybe I'll just pay more for a 470.....

ya RX 470 is pretty good as well abt the same performance as 280 (iirc)

My only issue with the 470 is how the GTX 1060 is outperforming it by a considerable amount and is much more available/cheaper.... yet it does not have freesync so I should not be considering it
