It's a Windows 7 system (initially setup in 2012). For now I have reinstalled the latest drivers using the Custom option to uninstall all previous drivers. Will see if there's any improvement (stability) the next few days.

I think just strap a 120mm fan with cable ties and will keep the GPU cool enough. 30 bucks can get a good 120mm fan that can be reused. Haha.

I used to buy the fans at 8 to 10 bucks. But nowadays, even cheap ones cost a lot more because of the brand.

Does the latest driver support Win 7 in the first place? I recall that Nvidia stopped issuing Win 7 and 8 drivers.

Well, it installs without complaints and renders games as expected.

As far as I know NVIDIA has a separate WHQL version for older Windows.

Only if the mounting holes are identical, the contact points are matching, and the power dissipation is similar. It works, but chances are not high.

Dont think it is possible, cause the mosfet/vrm area need their own cooling, apart from that the VRAM section needs their own cooling to. Most of it all quite precise location.

The mounting holes are the same. However, depending on the placement of the components on the board, it may not fit. If same brand, you can check if there is a picture of the heatsink before buying it.

Generally same brand and model will be the safest. I think some brands like MSI may reuse the same board and therefore the same layout. But still there is a slim chance that something is different on board and may cause mounting issues.
