Just got the taste of the worst customer service experience at SingTel:
1. Confirmed that the replacement set, even within seven days, is not a "new" set. It is a reconditioned set. The model number gives it away. It was a misconception on my part to assume that since it was just recently released, replacements will be brand new. Well it is not on my part.
2. I have been passed around - between SingTel Tech Services, Comm Center Hello Shop (which I was informed was the HQ by the Manager I dealt with) and CompassPoint Hello shop.
3. And for the manager to not dealt with me anymore (like around an hour), he said I should call Apple because Technical Services at Comm Centre is not SingTel - it is Apple.
I called Apple. Apple is sorting it out for me now.
Regrets: I should have waited for my Apple order to arrive than rush to SingTel to renew and get the phone.
Should have read your posting before taking my daughter iP5 to Singtel Tech Care Centre this evening.
My daughter 11-month old phone has a faulty button (top of set), but still can work, just got to press harder repeatedly. But otherwise, the rest of the set is perfect... especially the camera!!!!!!!
we were told by the service staff that they don't do repair BUT do 1-to-1 replacement. I was worried and asked if it is a refurnished set and they told me IT IS A NEW SET. I was sceptical BUT reluctantly I agreed.
The first thing when she hand the set over to my daughter, she requested that we take a picture and confirm the camera. I thought nothing of it. My daughter did as told and I took a look and think it's ok (I thought it was alright as it was nearing 7.30pm and I was tired and my eye-sight wasn't got). I assumed it was ok and we took the phone and went off.
On the way home, my daughter told me that there is a problem with the camera. She said she was trying to tell me (at the counter) that the photo taken were grainy BUT she was afraid so she was speaking so softly I didn't hear it.
And true enough, she took several shot to show me by zooming in to show how grainy it were. I was so mad that I call 1688 and ask what I should do. the Tech staff apologised but said he could not do anything as it is hardware issue.. he advised that we turn back and explain to the staff in Tech Care. But it was already nearing 8pm and we were a distant away... so I told him I will go back tomorrow (Oct-15).
I'm totally disappointed with SingTel service today and with myself too, for sending in my daughter good set (except for the faulty top button) in exchange for a poorly refurbish set. The camera was not even half as good as my HTC Desire 600!!
How can SingTel do such a thing? how can they tell customer that the replacement is a NEW PHONE but in fact it is a refurnish phone.. is that not lying?
I was so tempted to file a police report that I was cheated by the Tech Care Centre!
Can anyone offer me any advice before I go over tomorrow to demand for our original set.
