Hi ,

As above. Any recommendation? The fan is too noisy but i will keep the heat sink. Is it possible to change fan without changing the heat sink?

You might as well replace the heatsink if you find the stock fan too noisy because aftermarket cpu cooler solutions are all heatsink+fan combos.

I Google your question. People recommend varying the speeds of the fan..

Intel stock HSF is considered as Low-Profile HSF... can either consider that or tower-type HSF... once decided, then go into more specifics such as brand...

If you going for tower heatsink like this kind below,

I recommend Deepcool Gammaxx 300 or 400. It is value for money option. $29-39

Actually dun need.

Some doesn't need to install the backplate.

Like the one I recommended, is using push-pins to secure.

Nowadays, your case will have a cut-out on the CPU side to help faciliate on the bracket installation w/o taking out your mobo.... read in 1 review that the Gemini II m4 isnt that good, since it uses clips to hold the fan, and the reviewer noted that there was a slight disturbing noise when fan is maxxed out. When he lifted the fan up from the heatsink with the clips still on, the noise disappear/lessen a lot.

SO far, only cybermind selling the Scythe Shuriken Rev. B @ $69

oh nice. pctheme can get it thanks. i will get that then :)

Please double check whether your casing can support the heatsink of that height.

Each casing have their maximum supported height for HSF.

Smaller chassis normally cannot fit those full-sized tower HSF.

dont need those stylo V8 like car engine type of cooler. CPU not like human body, it can withstand varying temps. get a low-mid range upgrade (better than stock can liao). most importantly ensure the thermal paste is applied properly. the difference in heat transfer due to thermal paste is very obvious. seen before 20deg increase in temp due to improper application of paste

I cant even hear my intel stock fan with my 3570k @ 4.2GHz in open air setup unless I focus to spot it.

Did you mount it properly? I remember it was running very silent even when it was still with the intel stock paste.
