Replacing my PC

Hi guys,

My PC was build in 2010 mainly for playing Final Fantasy 14. Over the years, i only upgraded GPU and HDD. Lately it is been giving me RAM issues. Initially it was running 6GB RAM, now it runs at 4GB RAM. I have interswap the rams and ram slots but couldn't determine whether it is RAM issue or MB issues.

Current Specs

MB - Biostar TP67B+
i5 - 2400 @3.1Ghz
4GB RAM DDRIII 1333Mhz
120 GB SSD
Palit Geforce GTX960 2GB
PSU 500W-550W (not sure)

I am planning to use this rig until it dies and salvage everything except motherboard and RAM.

Any advise on how do i build a smallest possible rig with budget of $500 or lesser.

Tough to find mobo for your CPU. Can try taobao, but I'd suggest just getting a new CPU as well.

CPU + Mobo: G4560 + Asus H110 M-A M.2 D4 ($193)
RAM: Kingston 2400MHz 8GB ValueRAM($89)

PSU what brand? Make sure its a good PSU. Otherwise might want to consider replacing.

Are you reusing the case? If not, just look for one that fits your components that you like. Tecware good for budget option. NZXT/Fractal/Phanteks look better and more space for cable management.

Can add a HDD along to your SSD if need more storage space.

I wouldn't reuse the psu if I'm you.

This casing can house normal ATX PSU. So if you choose to salvage the PSU, you can still do so.

You said not reusing Mobo right? If you want a mobo for your current CPU. Only probably can get from Taobao, and I'd rather not do that personally

Current mobo sold in stores won't work with your CPU.

Your existing CPU can only work with socket 1155 MBs. So if you are replacing MB and RAM, you might as well replace the CPU as well and move to a new socket 1151 platform.
