Thank you for taking the time to click this thread. I am a student researcher from one of the local uni and I have decided to undertake some research regarding Nantah (南洋大学). Just a short history though, Nantah was a privately funded university acting as a feeder school for students in Southeast Asia. Funding was initiated by Tan Lark Sye, among many others, and people from all walks of life contributed to the cause. It is really an amazing piece of history, which, unfortunately, is rarely known, rarely taught, and rarely talked about (especially those around my generation). In the 1980s, the university merged with the University of Singapore to have what we know today as NUS. The grounds that held Nantah, became know as NTU. And the rest is history.
I created this thread to appeal to you guys for help in referring to me any Nantah alumni you know. I’ve had trouble looking for them because I can only locate them online, and most don’t reply my messages/email. Basically, I just want to know about the times they were in Nantah, and how they felt about their time there. It would mean a lot to me to be able to talk to them and to learn from their point of view. If there are any questions, you can PM me. Thank you so much for reading this again!
