I need help in identifying the fault in my PC.

The back story goes like this...

A few months back my PC start displaying weird symptoms like
Internet stopped working on start-up (PC is LAN) [This is fixed by restarting PC], and low fan speed errors (fan seems to be working fine). I don't know these issues have direct link or not so I'm just stating just in case.

So during one time, when return from overseas after about a month, the PC suddenly couldn't power on (PC was left unplugged during the trip). There is no sound, no fan spin, just lifeless when I pressed the power switch. The standby power LED was on green. But after a while (without touching it) the PC actually powered on itself. The PC was normal when on, no issues, no shutdowns. However, the PC was getting harder to power on every time I switch it off (same delayed power on).

So I suspect it may be the mobo's capacitor's fault. So I sent it in for repair. It came back about two weeks ago. I've notice the first start-up was slow. There was light but system didn't start for a while, it only started after I reset it 1~2 times. (idk this is normal or not).

After that the PC is all fine, normal during usage and normal during start-up. For about two weeks.

The actual problem started yesterday, when I returned home and the PC won't start again. Same lifeless PC with LED on and it actually started itself again without touching.

So I'm wondering is it the mobo's fault? It broke again after two weeks?

i7 2600k Asus sabertooth p67

Sorry for long post, need help :s11:

Try bring ur pc down the nigel's shop at #02-32. It could be PSU fault, if it is old.

Could you google for psu paper clip test and try it out?

if psu is fine, do remove all graphics card, and other drives except OS drive, to see if it boots up.

Could be anything but probably mobo dying; go to SLS and get a repair shop to do diagnostic test on all your components (a.k.a. breadboarding). IIRC around $20 and takes 1-2 hours.

I just sent in my mobo again. This time round the guy tested it and the mobo starts up fine...:s11:

This is a clip from PSU test, its seems fine too...:s11:

Weird thing are,
if the pc is on - no power problems
if shutdown standby light will be ON- press power button / Short the power sw pins - no fan, nothing happening

I'm sending in PSU also since its also under warranty.
Anyone had any idea whats going on?:s11:

I've had a PC exhibit the same symptoms due to a dying graphics card. If it was able to post and boot into windows, it worked fine. Then one day, the graphics card just totally died.

Had the exact same problem as you last time. Press power button noting happens for a good 30 mins, then suddenly everything starts up as if some ghost press a button.

Turned out my PSU got problem
