Hi guys, upon booting up my com the monitor displayed this image and wouldnt show pass the bios page. (It just turn black)
So I thought graphic card up lorry liao, I went to unplug the graphic card and insert into the motherboard hdmi instead. Even worse, cannot even show bios. (It will show please check your connection)

Any experts can help on this issue? Specs on the right

Now it shows to be attempting repair but failed so it gave a few options and I tried to do a system restore to an earlier point but failed too. @.@

Managed to logged into safe mode and trying the system restore from there.
Apparently there was a microsoft update at 9:11pm and then soon after, it crashed.

seems like your gpu is going to fail. try using alternative or onboard iGPU. it don seem that the windows update would have caused this to happen, as in bios, your screen is already distorted.. hence it is not due to driver issue.

Tried plugging into onboard igpu but monitor just show as per image.

I thought graphic card up lorry, wont affect system. Im thinking its the window update that affected something.

Now doing a reset of the windows OS ssd and shall see if it helps.

have you disconnected the dedicated gpu? pls do so if you have not.. if you have already done so, then your bios setting might be showing pcie first then the onboard.. not sure if i am right on this.

Yup if I disconnect the gpu and plug into onboard igpu. Nothing will be displayed other than * No Signal, Please check your connection* .

Go into bios and find an option to display via iGPU. Restart PC and connect to iGPU.

If motherboard have both hdmi and vga port, try using vga port on the motherboard instead of hdmi. Also try and do a clear cmos to reset bios to default settings after you remove the external gpu. After that then connect to motherboard vga port if don't have vga then hdmi port.

Maybe your bios settings still set to using pcie slot instead of using the onboard. Seeing the artifact on screen most likely gpu faulty. Also can try use another discrete gpu to test and see if got any artifact on screen or not.

Yes. Remove the Graphic card. Reset bios to default. Go into Bios setting , set the correct date and time. the hard disk drive that run your OS if you have more than 1 hard disk. Lastly remember to set to the correct port your Monitor is connected to. In this case should be the On board graphic.
If the display is ok. Then its means the Graphic Card that you took out is faulty.

@ TS have u tried with VGA cable? abit suspect could by your hdmi issues (but cables cant affect the whole system into this madness lei )

I tried changing hdmi cable and still same only working for graphic card output but no signal from igpu.

So I go into BIOS and set it to display from igpu only, still no signal. (Silly me)

Because I change BIOS settings to IGPU only, now totally cannot see anything. @.@

Sigh I think will bring down to SLS nigel for diagnosis. Maybe motherboard hdmi port faulty liao and I got no vga cable.

TS try and plug into the dvi or vga port instead of the hdmi port. And make sure your external gpu is NOT plug into the pcie slot. Your bios setting set to igpu liao should be able to have display on either dvi, vga or hdmi port one. And have you enable your igpu in bios settings as well? Make sure it is enable or simply just reset bios to default setting.


If I not wrong this should be your motherboard port that is available to be use if you are intending to use the igpu.

You got no vga cable but you have any dvi cable? Can try dvi cable also.

Quick update:
Managed to dig out a vga cable and tried the vga port to my secondary monitor (my primary monitor only got hdmi and dvi) and now its working normally.

So root cause is just a faulty gpu (heng everything else still okay)

Looks like got to find a replacement gpu liao, so long out of hardware scene. Last I know is gtx 1060 is best bang for buck (1080p/60fps games)

Any kind soul can reccomend me a bang for the buck graphic card now?
