I'm looking to purchase a resale EC that has completed MOP for my own stay. I've shortlisted Blossom Residences and The Rainforest. The sizes of the flats are attractive and overall quantum is reasonable for me. I'm considering those mainly because of the optimum commute duration to work for my wife (NUS) and me (City). I'm open to other private condos as well which are not too old. Looking forward to some tips from the experts here.

I used to stay at Segar road for 17 years. Between CCK & Bukit Panjang, I will pick BP due to easier access to BKE and shorter drive to town if you drive & if you are a public transport person, Bukit Panjang Downtown line gets you to CBD easily.

Rainforest price is slightly higher as compared to Blossom due to closer proximity to CCK Mrt as compared to blossom Which is near to Segar LRT.

My friend that is working in NUS too are looking to upgrade to resale EC from HDB. I shortlisted the same EC as u did! Getting to NUS is easy via Cashew/Upper BT & Clementi Road down. Can avoid ERP too.

Thanks for the suggestion. Blossom Residences prices are definitely palatable and there are a number of listings to choose from. But I expect more Rainforest listings to appear once ** is lifted. Btw, Do you think Rainforest has the potential to appreciate more in the next 5 years as it is close to CCK MRT and near other condos.

why do u want to choose resale EC and let the first owners profit so much from you?

to me. EC will still be EC even after being privatised. a Lexus will never be merc or bmw after 10 years

What is the difference between condo and privatised EC if location the same ?? Types of neighbors ?

on paper no difference. the type of neighbour and their mentality are different I feel as per what my colleague told me. I lived in private all my life so never experienced hdb or EC owners mindset before

Never owned EC before but I wonder if the common area is a little more 'discounted' compared to condo?

Common area means ? I think the main difference between condo and HDB is the lifestyle and security if both are in same location. If so, staying in EC, the lifestyle should be same as condo unless condo has something more that EC does not have. Dun really bother about neighbor mindset anyway. Ramesh staying in condo and I dun think I want to be his neighbour if I can choose.

By the way, my vote goes to rainforest. I think this location is better as much nearer to MRT. Price wise, blossom much cheaper right ?

Quality lo... Not all quality is the same, the carpark, the lobby, u go atas condo u can see the difference

Neighbors are important, because all of u are stakeholders, if neighbors all f up, then u have big problem

Quality differs project to project. EC may have decent units and facilities, and private condos may have lousy ones also. Most of the time, you get what you pay for.

Find one within your budget. No point going for premium / quality that you may not need, and end up can't afford comfortably..

To OP, I personally prefer rainforest since it's near to a mrt instead of lrt. Still got bus (alternative) to NUS for your wife.
