i cant restart. i went down to sls it could restart very properly on every try. i come back home. i cant restart. How is this possible ah? At home the beep sound just doesnt come out but at sls the beep sound was heard on every restart. Random things i tried: change power cable, took out everything except hdmi and power cable, even directly connect to main socket instead of extension(think im getting nuts). Any more ideas? :s11:

LOL...:s13:
If it works TS can stab himself with a screwdriver

Btw a lot of details missing, OS, boot sequence etc.

lol i use windows 7 home. actually i dont even know if it successfully shut down cos cpu still running, with black screen but keyboard and mouse light all off liao. this is actually super old problem until now i forget whats a proper restart like...does the system momentarily power off then on by itself again?

Restart has no power off, it is like reset but the system unloads OS and flush outstanding data to disk properly.

Check ACPI settings and disable fastboot.
If the mobo bios fastboot is broken then a reboot may not init correctly

since no problem at sls, can u try with diff hdmi or dvi cable?
if sls no connect lan, test by disconnect lan too.
also try with diff mouse/kb (or disconnect 1 of them for each round to test)...

do u have a multimeter, measure between e ground of each sockets of e extension 2c any voltage different among them.(if u have a grounding issue, basically capaitor will have problem discharge, can do continuity check on all grounds)
or tap between both live, it shd b 0vac since same connection, only if there is a phase different den there is a voltage diff, which like from loose or broken connection somewhere.

^^ weird, i thot u tested w/o extension before...?

lol i had the monitor cable and extension at the mains. so i switch the power cable with monitor cable cos i tot maybe power cable from mains better. but holy moley it only restarts when both power and monitor are at mains. truly the weirdest thing ever. i wonder if the longer the cable of extension the weaker the electricity or smth zz

oic :)

cud be some kind of some grounding issue then (me layperson guessing only) like wat cool, man explained. so tat even the monitor connection to faulty extension can affect the cpu side cannot restart...

but i imagine if so, then when u shutdown u'd have to wait some time before can properly startup again...
