Retina Macbook Pro 15" Users

Might be getting a rMBP 15" in soon next week and before I get it, just wanna hear from those who got it and how it is for you guys so far ?

Overall it's a fantastic and overpriced device, fast, amazing screen, great SSD.

At this stage I would wait for the 2013 update - most likely coming out some time in June.

It's not perfect - I hate that it is virtually impossible to upgrade, and the graphics capabilities are at the borderline of what is required to drive the retina screen - again, the 2013 update should be better. Some users report ghosting issues with their screens. Applecare is basically a requirement because if anything breaks and needs to be fixed, it will cost bazillions.

Biggest decision point is the form factor. Do you really need a 15"? Because if portability is important, get the 13" -the 15" is not very light. And of course, do you need the power? Because otherwise get the Air - it's far lighter and cheaper.

I personally liked the rMBP 15" so far. I loved the current weight compare to the non retina version as i carry it almost daily but at the same time miss the optical drive as i had some CDs and DVDs that i wanted to burn/watch on it.

The additional of HDMI is a big plus for me as i plug into an external monitor at home for use. One thing i would love is to have just another USB3.0 port instead of Thunderbolt port.

Other than all this, everything is good for me but I regret not upgrading to 16GB of RAM when i bought it. So upgrade it if you need to as you can't upgrade it yourself.

Like what di_andrei say, do not buy right now as this is the worst possible time to buy it. Their annual event WWDC is nearby which is June 10 and they will most likely reveal the new upgraded version of the rMBP which i guess will solve most problems found in the first gen and of course better specs especially for integrated graphics.
