i just bought a new ssd to run my windows.. but u wanna retrieve the files in my old hdd.. whenever i connects it to the mb.. it slow everything down.. n its not detectable, hang when i try to refresh in "my computer".. but i can still feel the hdd spinning, etc

may i know if there are any ways to retrieve the files? i understand that i can try using usb-sata cable n read it externally.. another way is using the hdd enclosure.. can anyone help?

One way to get another HDD of the same size or bigger to clone this faulty drive over and then read off the data from the cloned drive.

Since now you cannot even access it, no software will be able to recover the data for you. There is nothing you can really do.

If you data is important, you may wish to seek professional data recovery. At this point in time, maybe one of the heads is damaged and data still can be recovered without expensive hardware replacement or clean room services.

It should not cost too much as commonly believed. If you need recommendation, PM me.

i can now see the drive in disk management but it showed unallocated..

i tried jtjt00 suggestion of the hiren bootcd.. tried a few times.. got once it started to transfer (i think) as there is a transfer rate shown in the bottom left of the screen.. but all ended with "readfile error: the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error"
