Direct from APPLE site:

iPhone/iPad return policy
If you are not fully satisfied with your iPhone/iPad purchase, you can return your undamaged iPhone/iPad to the Apple Online Store within 14 calendar days from the time you receive your iPhone(s)/iPad(s) for a refund. A 25% open box fee will be assessed on any opened unit (per unit). A 15% restocking fee will be assessed on closed box returns (per unit). Please visit online Order Status or call 1800-MY-APPLE to request a return. The iPhone/iPad must be returned in the original packaging, including any accessories, manuals, and documentation.

https://www.apple.com/sg/shop/help/returns_refund

Simply, within 14 days and you want to return your iphone back to apple for a refund, these is what you will get:
If it's opened, you lose 25%.
If it's sealed, you lose 15%.

Hope this explains about the return policy for iphone.

I returned some items to the Apple store; they didn't charge any 25% fee for open box, return as it is.

I asked the sales people, they say they don't have the policy of levying charges so...

Nope.

All non Apple sets or items cannot be returned at Apple store, only purchases from Apple direct either website or retail shop can be returned.

Warranty is covered by Apple, so if your telco set or Nubox set iPhone has any issues, can bring to Apple to check or set up the genius bar appointment.

iPhones?

Because for all other categories, they is no charges.

Apple Watch, Macs, accessories, you can return within 14 days even if used with no charges, as long as full set return.

I'm not sure if Apple will cover tint or burn in issues, as that's limitation of OLED and not a real "defect".

Unless you're talking about burn in within 1-2 months only then probably they will.

But if used almost one year go tell them, I doubt they will cover, but I might be wrong!
