Anybody Kenna before shipping batteries?

The camera I ordered from Amazon keep losing the date settings everytime I remove the battery to charge it. I think the internal battery not very good liao.

Amazon is arranging a replacement and gave me labels to stick on the package including those that states 'litium batteries inside' big big and singpost don't allow shipping of batteries overseas.

What other company can I use to ship back?

If there is an option to repalce the CR2032 / 2016 / 2025 battery in the camera, please diy if possible if it does not void warranty. I remembered my 40D has an internal latch leading to the lithium battery

For the internal battery wise, I don't see the door for it nor I would want to diy. I mean a brand new camera shouldn't be having this problem

I know what you mean
But if its a simple matter of replacing a watch battery via an open latch, i'd be more willing to do it than to incur $50 / $100 freight. If is something that you have to dismantle the entire camera to do, then better claim warranty.
You also need to ship back in original box and add sufficient padding around it.
Otherwise, they might hit you with an improper packaging wty void thing.

I had to return a wireless set i got off amazon for US$299.
Spent about $100 and 1 month turnaround.

It is not worth it to ship batteries back to amazon.

First thing, singpost/speedpost no longer ship batteries our from sg. Despite using dhl as a rider.

So the only way to do so is to send it back via dhl, fedex or ups. Prior to send out the shipment, these coys usually will do a physical check if the battery is safe to ship out. Then only they will give you the label. And it can be costly to ship it out.

So if you are handy enough, try to change it yourself. But if requires a lot of work to remove it, then i guess you better send it back.

Alternatively, what is the brand of the camera? Send it to the local service centre here and get a quote for our of warranty repairs.

Maybe amazon have some ties with some carriers and pay lesser? i dont know man.

anyway my brother is heading america at the end of the month so worst come to worst just pass him to mail it there

Perhaps you can consider Qoo10's Qdelivery service? I mostly use it for local shipping cos convenient and cheap and comes with local shipping.
But they do shipping for overseas too. But you'll need to activate your Live10 account.

That model is mid range video cam cost about $1k.
Why don't buy locally?
Now comes warranty issue since you have to ship back.
If you want to save all the fuse, go to local Sony store
And get quote to replace the battery.
Camera doesn't have CMOS battery to keep its date but
Rely on the battery.
If the battery is faulty it will have problems.
To me your issue can be either battery or motherboard.
If it's motherboard than rather just get a new one.
Get local pricing first than decide on your next step.
FYI import model like this one you may charge you even higher
Service fee.
Camera/Video cam always try to get locally.
DIY PC no issue since PC you won't bring it outdoors.
Warranty or cheap price which will you choose for online purchase.

Tmr can call DHL/UPS/Fedex liao. Since Amazon will reimburse, just whack $250 on shipping reach to US next day

To me its a non issue. you must always keep a charged battery to keep a date. The backup battery inside is not able to remember the date if you remove the batteries for a few hours.

It is an issue
The BBU inside a camera is meant to hold the date. Otherwise why bother...

If you're into videography, you will know it is an UBER ANNOYANCE to flip the cam, only to be asked to go through the entire initialisation process, set date, timezone...etc..

I'm pretty sure the diagnostic charge will put one off.
Since AMazon is footing the bill, just return it.
