I am going to build a new system over this weekend's IT show and is thinking of salvaging some components from my old system. One of them is my old but still working PSU.

The specs of my intended new system:
i5-4570 3.2GHz
GeForce GTX650Ti Boost OR GTX750Ti (prefer the former, but seems like most shops no longer carrying)
2x 4GB ordinary RAM
2x DVD writer + 3x HDD
no overclocking intended

The PSU in question is a FSP Epsilon 600W which was bought in 2007 together with my current system.

Are there any potential problems with reusing the PSU. The unit is still working normally, but I'm afraid may have some compatibility issues due to the age. Comment please, thanks.

6 yrs old le.... 100% recommended to change. U dun want your psu to bring your components to meet Steve Jobs when it enters its own coffin.

On a side note, what is your intended mobo and case, and usage of PC? light gaming like dota 2? With 2x ODD and 3x HDD, a B85 would meet ur needs. but if u are using more than 6 ports, den you need H87 board.

Haven't really picked a mobo yet. But frankly, at my level (no OC, no heavy gaming), mobo doesn't matter much.

Use wise, it's home use general purpose. The most "high-end" games I have are along the lines of Civilization V or MS flight simulator X. So nothing that will really push the computer hard. (Maybe that's why my system survive so long :p)

Already 7 years old already. Good run for your money. Time for a new one. And please do not skim on psu. Buy a good solid one. Not asking you to buy a 750w-1000w. Go look at a few psu. Seasonic fsp higher end corsair. Superflower.

Go for reputable brands.

It is not good to reuse old psu. One day if it fails to deliver the amount of power it will just blow. Bringing your components together is not worth the trouble to rma. Also do take note that psu degrade over the years.

Yeah, but looking at the fact that you are gonna use 2x ODD and 3x HDD and maybe 1 ssd in future, your B85 will be max out in SATA ports immediately, leaving you for no room for further addition of hdd/ssd/odd. So, must think how many more you are gonna get.

I think the general advice here so far is to change PSU. duly noted and thanks.

Ha. Good point. I will take a look at the boards perhaps tml. But I'm not too worried, as this 2xODD 3xHDD system is tried and true for me. When I "expand" HDD, I actually change out HDD rather then just add more.

It's bought in LATE 2007. So it is just slightly over 6 years.
