Never done it on an imac before but it may be similar to converting AIOs for use as an external monitor
Basically, you need to convert that internal LVDS into an HDMI / VGA / DVI female port then drill hole so the female head can be easily accessible.
Good as a DIY project cheaper to just buy an external monitor. lol

lol. i have that imac screen and do not wish to waste that screen. its quite good. thought some may have tried and can advise how to go about it. given that resolution i think imac screen is cheaper to modify as to buying a new monitor with that resolution.
