Just bought the router yesterday. I am getting like 100-200 Mbps on my mobile phone with wireless ac. Not sure if there is anything wrong with my setting. For wired connection, I can get like the usual 900 plus Mbps.

bro, thats wifi. Actually that is pretty fast already for smartphone with wireless AC. Typical smartphone comes with a 1x1 11ac wifi adapter which will allow you to get maximum throughout of 433mbps. but since 433mbps is only possible if you utilise a 80Mhz bandwidth comprising of 4 x 5ghz channels, it would be quite difficult to really get the maximum throughput unless you live in an isolated island where you are the only one living on it and you own the only 11ac wifi router. kiddin!

but anyway, typical wifi connection for a smartphone with ac adapter would allow you at least 200mbps maximum using 40mhz bandwidth of the two 5Ghz channel bonded together. So I say your EA9200 is pretty fast bro. That is the expected speed for an ac adapter.

i'm getting 200-250 for both upload and download on my iphone6plus.
wired speed is around 800-900.

I think Linksys EA9200 and Singtel works pretty well together.
From a happy customer :)

Here is a simple guide to know whether youre client device is really utilizing your EA9200. First to make sure youre getting the max bandwidth, placed your client device 5 to 15 feet from the router. And yes, connect only to 5Ghz channel.

Iphone 5/5S - It comes with 1x1 11n client device, so expected speed is from 50 to 100 mbps. This is based on the lowest and highest expected throughput

Iphone 6 - it comes with 1x1 11AC client device - 70 to 200mbps

2 X 2 range extender (Linksys RE6500HG)- 200mbps to 400mbps

Again these are actual test, so your result may be quite different since radio waves as you see is a "magic". We can only predict its movement but not really see it, so we dont really know how it actually moves on different objects. :)

Now for EA9200 with two 5Ghz radio, I would expect I could connect more Iphone 6 and still maintains the 200mbps max bandwidth.

2.4Ghz and 5Ghz can be the same SSID ?

Yes bro. But if youre referring to SmartConnect, for Linksys EA9200 and NetGear R8000, they only implement it with 5Ghz channel. Same SSID for 5Ghz radios.

Asus and Dlink looks like is implementing it for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz channel. I just hope Dlink would not have similar problem with Asus AC3200.

Smart connect, can be customized by different vendors. Netgear choose to use signal strength as a basis to steer from the two 5Ghz radio while Linksys EA9200 use actual link rate per client. I think Asus and Dlink is using signal strength as well, but to include 2.4Ghz together with 5Ghz channel, that may be a tough challenge for the smart connect algorithm. But anyway, there are smart guys out there who are finding a way about it or else Asus would just drop 2.4Ghz channel from their Smart Connect and just follow what Netgear and Linksys is doing as well. Problem solved :)

Mini review of the EA9200

When was the last time I used a Linksys router? WRT54G. The best router at that time. Fast forward, Linksys, together with other big brands, race to launch the Tri Band router in the form of EA9200.

Just like a boy, I always look forward to see a galore of accessories that come in the package!

How many ports do we actually get on a high end router? Pretty much the standard.

Build & Design.

The bragging rights of a high end router seems to be determined by the design. Dlink came up with a spaceship, Asus went for spider while Linksys decided the taller the better. 高高在上 so they say.

Pretty tall, the bottles are 1.5L by the way.

On the hindsight, the footprint is very small. Think of that as the ideal lady - Tall. Slender.

Seriously, I would not care much about design, but more on functionality. The immediate problem I faced was what's the password to the router wifi :o? Coming from Asus where no password was needed and the setup wizard pops up immediately after hooking up the Wi-Fi, this is something Linksys ought to learn.

For your benefit, the default SSID password is located below the router.

The welcome page (which does not launch automatically) after you hit 192.168.1.1

SOP after this page, setup was a breeze.

For Singtel Fibre Home, good news, there is VLAN option on the EA9200 router :D

Review TBC. Home wireless speed will be discussed next.

Use the WPS button.
Linksys while being taken over by Belkin used to provide a keycard or NFC tag for that?

Hi, anyone can you teach me how to configure EA9200 setting so that I can get close to 800Mbps (Cat5e wired to my Mac) when connected to SingTel Optical Network Terminal.

Now I am getting around 280Mbps :(

Thanks

What's your mac model, cable used and where did u do the speed test at?
