change to 6500 and use the money for an aftermarket cooler like Cryorig M9i/H7.

Can also consider buying a Skylake board that supports DDR3 so that you can recycle your current RAM

Advice to spend a little more to get Z170 mobo and i5 6600k even if you don't intend to OC now. It will give you more performance headroom further down the road.

Edit: Don't recommend getting a DDR3 skylake mobo as DDR3 is getting scarcer and more expensive down the road and DDR4 is getting cheaper and more available in the higher speeds.

i7 6700 + Asrock H170M pro4 @ S$622

If you are not going to OC, go for a 8 thread cpu. Change to a B150 mobo and reduce the price further.

alternative to z170+6600k is to get i7 non-overclock and cheapo motherboard

better combo at same price ... because to overclock need capable cooler and power supply
while the i7 is guaranteed multi-threaded performance no matter how crappy the cooler and power supply

More threads lower speed is better than less threads higher speed.

Yeah. Appreciate the inputs. I have an old atx case, so was trying to replace some parts. Upgrade from 1060 to 1070 is about 200+, 50% more. Is it worth it. Really got such big duff?

Depends on what games you play + monitor resolution/refresh rate.
For 1080p gaming, 1060 should be enough. Not worth going for 1070.
For 1440p, 1060 will probably net you 35-45fps on titles like Witcher 3. 1070 will net you about ~15fps improvement
Numbers aga aga only.:s12:

Agree. For 1080p gtx 1060 is enough. You will be bottlenecked by the i5 6500 at non OC speeds. Start with Z170/ i5 6600k or i7 6700k next time when upgrade the graphics cards your cpu can still catch up
