top up to wallet?
also wanna know how it works.
I am more concern about how to zero the wallet..
I use Revolut for my US trip.
My past experience:
1) I only have SGD in the Revolut eWallet. I don't need to change to USD. When I do payment (either present physical card or Google Pay/NFC (with the card info loaded), the equivalent amount is deducted from the SGD eWallet. I compared with the exchange rate in XE Currency app, only at max USD 0.01 difference. So the exchange rate is good compared to credit card (usually is USD 0.06 difference).
2) I top-up SGD eWallet via linking my DBS/POSB account and reflected almost immediately. I can anytime transfer back the eWallet balance back to my bank account.
3) If you install the Revolut app, you can see your balance in real-time, assuming your phone has data connection (Wifi/4G) overseas.
4) If you don't have data connection overseas, you still can use Google Pay/NFC to pay.
5) When I pay, some merchants' terminal cannot accept the card as credit card. When I asked them to try as debit card, it will go through. Sometime you will be asked to enter your PIN (setup during Revolut app installation) on the terminal for the payment to go through. E.g. I have to enter the PIN whenever I made payment at physical Walmart store.
6) Single use virtual credit card feature is useful. Since single use, the card no will not work again after use. I bought something online using the single use virtual card. However, my transaction was cancelled subsequently. I thought my refund is gone, since it is single use. However, Revolut system is smart enough to received the refund and I got it 1 to 2 days later in my SGD eWallet.
Hope this is useful to you.
