I think for those who fail to register their card, can try again after activating and after the 0.10$ rebate is credit back to you.

It seems like Transitlink only refund the money back to the card on start of each month

Can someone please advise if there are any benefits to having the Revolut card that relate to foreign travel? I have no plan to use it locally in Singapore.

Is it a card that one can top up before leaving Singapore, and then use as a prepaid card while abroad with very favourable foreign exchange conversion rates and/or no surcharges? And is this type of use competitive or even better than Instarem Amaze (without the current offer of additional cashback)?

I understand that the Revolut card can be used for fee-free cash withdrawal abroad, which is potentially tempting because there are still places in South and SE Asia where some expenses still need local cash. The SGD 350 limit (per day it seems per month) for the free Revolut tier seems good enough for now.

But can folks advise if I should obtain it just for this purpose? Or, is finding such a fee-free ATM so difficult or there are inevitably local ATM fees charged, that it is not worth the effort?

Thank you very much!

similar to YouTrip. $350 fee free withdrawal overseas ATM monthly for standard tier. most ATMs don't charge a fee but some still does, not a fault of Revolut. classic example, Japan. certain machines does and doesn't. Same goes in Europe so you have to withdraw from the ones without fee. if you topped up via Bank Transfer and ultimately did not finish the value/exchange, you may withdraw back to SG bank acct.

do note weekends exchange rates there's a higher rate for exchange, so usually ppl forex exchange on weekdays and avoid 8am to 8am (Revolut is based in London) from sat to mon wch are the higher rates weekend time.

question on the 20%, $10 cap on the Cashback on Public Transport Campaign, is it use one time can qualify for $10 after topping up $100?

ie, if i open new Revolut account, top up $100 via bank transfer, activate and use SimplyGo on the Revolut card then get $10 cashback, or is it 20% of each public transport transaction?

Created a virtual card and re added the virtual card(MC) details to SimplyGo.... And this time it worked...

I think once your card fails the authorisation, it will forever be rejected
The virtual card it says for one time use, still can use for simplygo?

Got it. Thanks for your response. Very helpful.

Is CIMB StarSaver a better proposition for local cash withdrawals at ATMs abroad?

CIMB StarSaver ATM card has a 1% Visa processing fee. But there is no monthly limit of SGD 350 withdrawal, and not necessarily a different weekend vs. weekday rate. Withdrawing from own bank account and therefore no worry about going overlimit. Most ATMs are "Plus" ATMs and maybe one could even get lucky if one finds a CIMB ATM in Malaysia, Indonesia, or Cambodia or Thailand.

The local ATM operator charge would apply irrespective and as you say it is unavoidable. Two years ago, these were ATMs with zero local operator charges that I knew of:

Vietnam: Eximbank, TPBank, SeA Bank, Military Bank
Taiwan: Bank of Taiwan, Chang Hwa Commercial Bank

And if the CIMB SS account isn't to be used regularly, it would entail withdrawing back to the regular SG bank account but that is routine.

i have no clue about CIMB starsaver (seemingly only support SGD) but on surface reading is it even a multi-currency acct? there are Multi-Currency account that CIMB has, but those are meant for that few currencies they support and they do not issue ATM cards for those.

unless the SS account has a wallet that allows you to 'exchange' currency and put it inside just like YouTrip and Revolut, and does not charge for ATM withdrawal fees. Plus ATMs does not mean that any Plus labelled ATM cards do not charge a fee, it's still subjected to the discretion of the overseas bank whether they wanna charge the fee. This fee is earned by the bank, not Plus network.

if SS is solely a SGD account, then you're subjected to the bank's forex rates whenever you withdraw (even when the ATM doesn't charge a fee) which typically are worst off most times as compared to the Revolut and the likes of debit cards. It's essentially like holding a POSB Savings account and you bring the debit card linked to it overseas to withdraw at ATM, then get slapped with ATM fee exchanged at ATM and undesirable bank rates.

don't really have to scratch your head over these. when YouTrip first came out, i just used them straight off my head and withdrew max at ATMs without fees, with $5 per withdrawal fee charged by YouTrip to maximise the withdrawal.

You might want to read up more as i don't explore these savings accounts options for ATM withdrawals. the only time i used bank ATM is when i needed to withdraw existing AUD using DBS Debit Card via West Pac ATMs in Australia which is free with unilateral agreement. Good luck.
