Just Curious. So in this case, they will convert the full 10,500 yen from SGD balance?

Since 10,500 yen is within 500 SGD
Revolut will deduct the full amount from SGD if there is enough money in SGD to cover the transaction. Even if you have more than enough in both currencies, Revolut would reject the transaction if SGD and JPY alone are not enough to cover it.

So revolut will try to deduct full amount of the local currency first. If that's not enough, will try to convert the full amount from SGD. If neither is enough, transaction won't go through

Is this summary correct?

Yes, this is correct. It happened to me twice recently.

For instance, if the transaction is USD550 and you have USD500 and SGD500, Revolut will reject the transaction.
Before the transaction can be completed, you must convert SGD to USD.

Now cannot use GrabPay Mastercard to top up revolut...

They recently blocked it. Was able to do that just few weeks ago. This Grab really dont want people to use their card anymore.

You may refer to the list below for the types of merchants and transactions that are not supported:
  • eWallets and Remittance Services. Examples include: Revolut, YouTrip, BigPay Singapore, ShopeePay, Lazada top-ups, Amaze, EZ-Link app, Remitly, and Western Union

Now only reason to keep Grab card is the Amex topup. If they disable Amex topup, I am going to cut the card into 2 and throw into the dustbin.

It is still able to top up the Youtrip card via CC. I guess it is because Youtrip is a local company and Revolut is a British company?

Another guessing. It is not allowed to transfer money from Youtrip. But revolut is able to do it. So if you top up then transfer money to your bank account, it is like a cash advance. So the top up is blocked by banks.
