Rig recommendation for HDTV

Been 3 years since i built my own rig, now planning to get one for living room gaming.

TV is only a 40" 1080p display, thus no need monitor.
Budget around 1.5k

Kinda out of touch with the current tech, appreciate if i can have some advice. Thanks in advance!!

any rig with a integrated GPU (since it is only FHD) will do.
preferably i3-6xxx series and above should be extremely powerful enough.

You only need $400-$600 for it.

Having said that, iGPU can easily output 4K video.

I would like to recommend ITX build for your need, maybe in a Fractal Design Node 202

any rig with a integrated GPU (since it is only FHD) will do.
preferably i3-6xxx series and above should be extremely powerful enough.

You only need $400-$600 for it.

Having said that, iGPU can easily output 4K video.

$400-600 not enough. He did mention living room gaming.

At least a GTX 1060...

What specs is your current PC?

Chances are since your PC is just 3 years old, you just need a graphics card upgrade...

If no need ITX, sure, it changes everything... because ITX is an added cost. However, not sure if 1070 will fit into your budget. 1600 + 1070 isn't a bad choice. Intel will be better for gaming due to higher clock...

It will be way helpful if you can provide a snapshot of your living room TV console as well as allowable dimensions for this new PC.

Nope. Add a PCIE WIFI Adapter like TP-Link Archer T6E ($51 from Dynacore) if you needed the WIFI. 500GB SSD quite pricey though. Can consider getting online from Lazada if you want local ($216.90 for Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" SATA3)

Don't need X370 for R5-1600X, a B350 mobo will do.
R5-1600X do not include a CPU cooler, so a cooler will be needed.

R5-1600 does include a stock cooler...

Your chassis size getting bigger and bigger.

Getting an ITX mobo with a Miracast/WiDi supporting WiFi & BT combo chipset (in its current abomination rolled into Windows 10), building around a console-sized chassis might be ideal.

If your TV supports Wireless Display Mirroring at 1080p, decent bluetooth connectivity (paired with an XBox wireless controller etc) with proper drivers you could even use this the build as a main PC housed in a nearby room, don't have to build twice.

Assuming you aren't too far from the computer chassis (e.g. next to living room), a wireless keyboard connection should still fare reasonably well and you can avoid clogging up TV console space. Build a single regular sized PC in that case.

yeah my TV support wireless display but not sure if it's 1080p though, will need to check.
how about audio then? can i output the audio to my soundbar through bluetooth?

If you want to put your PC in another room,

there is a device called "Steam Link" that allows you to stream games on steam from your PC to the living room TV.. able to use controller to play the games.

Too bad, Steam Link is a US thing and being sold at USD $5. There are some imports that cost around $80~ which isn't worth it.

Oh ya, the Tecware F3, $55 case is mATX case. You'll need bigger case if you buy the X370 Killer SLI whihc is ATX format.

Miracast is workable, IIRC should be 30FPS 1080p. WiFi direct type connection.

BT: Simultaneously connected to small sound bar type BT speaker +XBox One Wireless controller was doable in my setup, tried before.

My WiFi chipset is Intel AC8265, wireless display is LG TV (basic 4k smart tv).

Though if you want to make something similar there are of quirks to be worked on, e.g.
-TV Miracast support/ WiFi Screen mirroring support
-Any poor antenna gain issues
-how the room is setup but a good WiFi chipset with decent drivers will give you some headstart.

There will be of course abit of latency from all the wireless connection but its reasonably within what you'll expect from wireless controllers etc. Nothing bad for casual games.
