Rig recommendation to run Stable Diffusion

Can someone recommend me a rig that will run it smoothly and which shop to go?

I know I need a VRAM of at least 6.9 GB based on online sources.

how much $ do you want to spend. Actually more VRAM is still better as it will allow you to generate bigger images IIRC. You will definitely need Nvidia GPU if you're running on Windows tho.
One option you can consider is to find used 3090(Ti).

Thanks duckne55, the graphics card alone costs $1,200 based on your spreadsheet? How much would the other parts of the PC cost then? I am not aiming to spend beyond $1,500. Wonder if that's reasonable. Thanks.

a 3060 seems like the sweet spot, and u get 12gb of vram so should be ample for ur needs; its easy to snap one up around 500 nowadays. a pretty decent rig would be like this:

ryzen 5 5600 + asrock b550m pro4	349 (dynacore)
klevv bolt x 2x 8gb 3600mhz ddr4	80 (dynacore)
wd black sn770 1tb	140 (dynacore)
galax rtx 3060 12gb 1 click oc	467 (pcthemes shopee)
cooler master mwe 550w v2 bronze	68 (pcthemes)
any case of ur choice	~100

total: about 1.2k. now 3060ti having a few promos also, can be had for about 600-700, so can be a viable alternative as it is generally faster though the vram capacity is smaller at 8gb, so might be cutting it close in terms of vram requirements.

edit: the 3060 for 467 looks like a limited time deal so do get it quick.

The difference between 3060 12GB vs 3060Ti is likely to be ability to generate higher res images vs faster speed in generation.

for these kinds of ai workloads, the gpu is the main processor. u would be best served by spending the surplus on the gpu, and with a 2k budget u could go for a 3080. looking on shopee and lazada, there are a couple of listings for 3080 at around 1150, which should fit in ur budget nicely. the remainder should be spent on upgrading the psu to a >650w unit.

If willing to work with linux. AMD card. 6800 16 GB. Not too expensive. If you dig around you might even find a XT version on discount...

Else get a rtx 3060 12 GB for windows. Not too cut throat in price...

actually also possible to get radeon cards working on windows with a bit of effort, but ts seems like they just want the easiest setup. rdna2 pricing locally is also not competitive, if u can even find stock at all (especially navi 21 cards like the 6800).

t1000 is based on same die as 1650 non super, with slower core and memory clocks, so will likely run very slowly. anyway stable diffusion is not a professional workload and works fine on regular geforce cards, so this would be overpaying big time on professional features that wont be used.
