Hi, my laptop of 6 years is starting to break apart. can anyone recommend me a system complete with monitor within the price of $1000?
mainly use the desktop to surf web and watch HD youtube video. will play some games such as call of duty once a while.

You still have your Windows 7 upgrade? Is it free upgrade from your notebook brand?

What internet plan and router you using as well?

Windows OEM license cannot be reused for his new PC legally, just to note.

Using singtel fibre 2gb with their stock router.
Ouch that noob Aztech router is going to bottleneck the best PCIe WiFi card you can get. So would rather you go with powerline homeplug adapter for best connection, especially if you are not able to connect PC to router with LAN cable directly without crossing any common corridor. Or are you staying in a relatively new home with the utility box?

As for the OS, it will be awesome if you are able to install that same Windows 7 upgrade (with any product key provided to you previously) on a new Windows Vista installation using your other product key on the COA sticker...

The extra COA sticker product key can be used to install and activate on another PC legally. Been there done that.

My house only got one access point for the fibre terminal. Speed doesn't matter as I don't really play online games
