Rig Upgrade Enquiry

I still have a PSU that is mint in box after I RMA it a few years back (maybe 5 years ago). Is it recommended to be use it at this moment? The shrink-wrap is still intact around the box though.

So Samsung's SSD is quite popular and reliable nowadays? I have checked some price-lists from SLS and found that most of the SSD brands are alien to me.

It seems that Hitachi is not really coming out much HDDs nowadays.

i preferred crucial , plextor , lite on

all are decent brand for ssd

Not yet. My wife asked me to reserve the entire PC for her when our new house is available around 2017. Once this PC is transferred to her, I can build a new rig from scratch. Now? We are staying with my parents for the moment so there is space constraint in my room. Almost no space to walk.

In other words, I can't upgrade anything at the moment. I should not have told her about my intentions. Haiz... Me and my big mouth...

I don't really see a problem. You can always put in the SSD and GTX 970 now and when you get around to building a new rig, transfer these parts over and put back the old parts in the current PC.

That is also my wife's 'recommendation' which I do not really believe in it.

Whenever I talk about PC upgrade or overhaul, she will give me the 'look' and will sound unhappy. She does not understand why I need to beef up my PC. And she do not really like me gaming at home.

She can play Candy Crush Soda and CSI but I cannot play Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Cities: Skylines, Diablo 3 and StarCraft 2. Haiz...

I don't really see a problem. You can always put in the SSD and GTX 970 now and when you get around to building a new rig, transfer these parts over and put back the old parts in the current PC.

Sometimes, she will use my PC to watch her Korean/HK drama series when I am working overseas. She will notice that the boot-up is quite fast when she powers up the PC if I installed the SSD with the OS.

Then I will die a 'horrible' death when I come home from overseas work.

Anyway, my wife does not like PC gaming. I brought her to a LAN shop before and she said the patrons have nothing better to do. LOL... She does not know the gaming feeling. Most women do not know or understand. She even said I am wasting money on beefing up my PC. She rather spends money on nice food, clothes and other womanly stuff.

lucky my wife not like your wife... she allowed me to play everything i want but accept one thing... dont waste your money on upgrading... lol.. last few month i upgrade my GTX 970 and she doesn't know... if shes find out.. i die sian....
