Rig upgrading: full/partial overhaul?

Hey guys!

I would like to humbly seek your advice regarding upgrading of my rig, since it's gonna reach the 5 year mark soon.. Am intending to upgrade and sell my current rig's parts since it's still working well now. My current PC specs are all listed at the side. My apologies, as I have been out of the scene for quite a while now.. so am unsure of what's the happening thing now, and I've also stopped gaming.

My usage would be day to day web browsing and youtube/movies, I don't play games anymore, but would be good to just have a 'mid-tier' GFX for standby (am using onboard GFX now cos my HD7850 kaput). Only issue with this is that sometimes when I speed up youtube video to x2, video lags, but am not sure if it got tot do with the GPU though.

My budget would be about below $1000, of course the lower the better. I will be reusing my monitor and speakers. Would like to seek all your expertise and advice on what parts can I reuse, and what should I change?

I would say my CPU+Mobo would definitely have to be upgraded, but I'm not sure if my SSD and HDD are required. Recently I've been hearing some random clicking from my HDD few weeks back, but it has since disappeared. HDD mainly for storing files which I've only used about 400gb in the last 5 years Think I should change my PSU too, as I heard the average PSU lifespan is about 5 years. I will be downgrading my NZXT case to a m-ITX case too, looking at something like the Silverstone RVZ series.

To be honest with you. Below 1K, just change your SSD to a bigger capacity SSD, change your display to a better one and get a better graphic card.

No point changing your cpu and mobo to a similar spec KL setup.

just change GPU and add SSD, if ur not doing any CPU reliant stuff don't need upgrade CPU.

May I ask what is KL setup?

Hmm, in that case, what graphics card in the market now would be suitable for both my mobo/cpu? Actually I think for now, I shall maintain my display, but will be considering to upgrade it sometime later on.

What about the PSU? Should I change it as well since it's near its average life? I think my SSD space is just nice, I stilll have plenty of space on it (minimal installation of programs too), but same concern as my PSU! But all in all, I guess my main concern is that one day, if my PC suddenly fails, I would have to panic buy which might cause uninformed decisions. Also, reason for downgrading my case is because considering my parts, it's a little too big.. inside very empty. Haha so wanna change to m-itx to save some space..

Get at least a 240gb ssd. OCZ Trion 150 or PNY CS1311 is $98 at pc theme.

Nothing else need upgrading. Psu can consider but if no issue can don't upgrade first.

KL = kabylake = 7th Gen Intel processor.

Okay, understood. Actually, what is the price of 128gb ssd at the moment? Currently, my crucial m4 seems like it's okay, and besides, I only used about 80gb on my ssd; storage files I put in my HDD!

Also, I would want to decrease the size of my casing, and seems like for m-itx, they have a different board which is more expensive, including casing. Just wondering that would I be able to do so, with my current mobo?

128GB if those cheap one should be around 60+~70

decrease the size of your case like how
should be using word like "changing" to a smaller case.

m-itx is even smaller and your mobo need to be a smaller size den normal atx case...

edit: your mobo is a m-ATX so if u want can consider Thermaltake case or sliverstone those cube type.

but if u are still going to aim for sliverstone raven, its kinda hard to get a ivy bridge itx board, unless u source from IT gauge or blue forum.
