I ever watched a taiwan video that say IF is no good, then many viewers bashed him by leaving angry comments. Those are the ppl who gain health by doing IF. Someone said he was a doc who might got paid by pharma companies to demote IF.
Thousand years ago, our ancestors didn't lead a 3 meals life, they only eat when they can find food. 3MAD only started after industrial revolution. Biologically we are the same as our ancestors, life has changed but our body structure remains.
Quite true, its since the invention of refrigerator that enable us to have easy ready access to food that we start to have 3 stable meals.
And have anyone wonder why the first meal of the day is called "Breakfast"?? Its from "Break" -- "Fast" ....
Intention and studies are good, but those adopting it might not be able to adopt their fasting to clinical fasting standards/diet.
Thats why have to consult ur doctor and dieticians if they wanna start a different diet.
I have personally witness a couple of my frens, they went for 16/8, they slim down alot very fast, easily 10 to 20kg within a year, but they look very bad and pale, like a malnutrition patient.
They have sunken cheeks, thin limbs and legs ....
Reasons is direct
- They really are malnutrition.
- Majority of their weight loss is from muscle mass.
- If they consume less than 0.8 grams of proteins/kg of body weight, they will be losing muscle mass, much more if the older they gets.
- A normal adult male need around 1800 to 2200 calories to maintain their current build, so would they be able to stuff this calories within 8 hrs eating windows, else they will be having caloric deficit and lose weight and muscle again.
- During the fasting windows, they will tend to gorge on their favourite food since they are hungry and in a mentality of i am fasting, i am burning fats, i am healthy, so they will eat fast food, hawker food, deserts etc. Tummy so filled with such food, they will obviously avoid healthy whole food like steam fish/chicken leafy greens.
End up its a total disaster.
Like many things, the intention is good, but its the misinterpreting and lack of proper execution that flips the table.
