just went sudak last sunday...
they call it flooding market, not river market...
you will not get anything from there one... all sell useless souvenir is really chop tourists one...
but if you plan to go there shopping, i will tell you not to go...
but if you plan to go there for see see look look, i think it is a good experience...

i just random walk in some local tour agent in bangkok and ask for price... some qoute 1.5k with elephant ride and snake show...some 550baht for flooding market
then i book one that only have flooding market for 600baht... in the end must go elephant ride and snake show and gem store, which i somehow expected...

mini bus drive the group there for 2 hour
take a long tail ride to the flooding market(est 10 mins) to reach the market...
then have to pay for 150 per pax for 30 min peddle boat ride for the experience...
then the mini bus pick us up and spend 5 min to go elephant ride area...
the ride have to pay 500-600 baht, but don't really want to ride it... in the end i spend 100baht for a basket of banana and feeding the elephants...
mini bus spend another 10 min to go snake farm
there is a show on a man frighing the snakes... don't know you like it or not... 250baht per pax... we not interested... so walk around the area and pew pew with the old fan, old TV and old telephone display there and get a drink for 20 min...
Then will go to a wood craft center see see look look for 15 mins and toilet break...
then mini bus will drive us for 2 hour to go to a gem shop back in bangkok, get a drink, watch a 5 min video, and then we just directly walk all the way to exit... and the gem shop will have free mini bus bring you to any where you like, your hotel or shopping mall...will spilt up because everyone in the tour is from different hotel...

whole trip is 6:45am until 2pm reach hotel...
of cos, there will ppl say time wasted on the elephant ride and snake show and gem store and more exp then you go yourselves...
but look at the guide on go yourselves... looks like a lot of try and error to just save some time and a few baht is also the same...
some guide as i understand is:
taxi at 5:30am to go to a bus terminal to take bus number 78 at 6am(not sure how fenq if missed), 2.5 hour later then reach the area
Spend time to look for a local yellow bus or long tail(lowest bargin to 200baht) to access to the market (10 min)
then look around the market, may be 30mins?
the take the 2.5 hour bus back to one of the bangkok bus terminal and then take taxi to town...

like that easily spend 6 hour in this way liao vs 7 hour with local tour...
may be can save you 200-300 baht per pax???
that why would rather take the tour...

Which one is much easier to go and better to see?

The damnoen saduak floating market and Amphawa are located very close to each other, but one is in the day, and amphawa is at night. at amphawa you can see firelies at night too, but if you go i advise you stay the night
aside from tour groups you can take minivans from victory monument station there, details here.

Taling chan i went the last time, also quite touristy... you won't buy stuff there unless you want souvenirs. If you want an authentic floating market then Bang Nam Peung Market is your choice but it's hard to reach (far from town)...

I'm going to amphawa in June, will post some photos/reviews when I'm back. can't say if it's good or bad... but well, I think it's one of those good to haves, not a must.
