Is it very common to have road closures in Taiwan?

I was just googling the distance from one accommodation to the next and noticed that there's a road closure indicated today as compared to the previous few days.

How often does this happen and is there a website that I can check for more realtime info when I'm in Taiwan?

taiwan got frequent earthquakes, typhoons. so road damage, landslide may happen.

Google your best friend or check with car rental how to get such notification
https://www.freeway.gov.tw/English/

I remember receiving earthquake alerts on my phone when i was in Taiwan back in 2019... it was only a 3.0 i think... cannot even feel anything... i think their telcos are supposed to push such information on all the connected phones...

but strangely the night before got a 2.X and i can feel it... that one no alert on the phone... maybe need to be at least a 3.0...

Now they experiencing torrential rains over the last week.
So common to have closure for safety purpose.

I see.

Do you know if mid November is more stable? I read that it should be drier.
Yes supposedly so.
But if you decide to drive, of course you need to chart your own course.
Things can still change and also there are frequent landslides now as well.

small quakes happen daily so nothing to worry about. usually more important messages are broadcast to all available channel (mobile, tv, radio etc)

but road closure may not be immediate until further assessment

Any kind advise as to whether the weather condition is safe to selfdrive during this period around the whole taiwan? And what to look out for? I checked out some online car rental company, most require same pick up and drop off place? Any good recommendation on car rental shop? Thanks in advance..
