You do this right after market tanks.... Omg buy bonds at high price sell stocks at low prices. wtf are you doing man.
Not really sure what your strategy is. Unless u are near retirment age, this time it is better to take more risk if ur investment horizon is long. I got in early mar when djia hit breached 25k to 24k (my trigger point) at 21 risk%.

Although i have a standing instruction to dca once a month, I am still deploying additional 1% to 5% of my warchest whenever market is down for 2 days in a row.

What do you mean DCA?

DCA, in simple terms, is to not one shot dump into anything at one go. Instead, you do it on smaller amounts weekly, or monthly, to get an average price, or sorts, so that you insulate yourself against short term fluctuations.

Lucky i cut my loss early, sold all my robo asset (digiportfolio, Stashaway and Syfe).

Tonight market gonna tank hard again. US Future indices tanked today and hit the 5% limit down circuit breaker. Be prepared for another bloodbath of 5-10% 1 day loss on top of previous loss.

When are you going to enter again?

I just put in a request to withdraw all the money from Stashaway too. But I just added my bank account, and it says 2-3 business days. My portfolio still shows the money, will it be subjected to fluctuations within these 2-3 days?

If you put in the request in time by this morning, they will sell your asset tonight when the US market opens but you will still suffer the bloodbath of tonight. If not in time, you will need to go through 2 days of US market trading.

So you would advice to not enter the robo market at this point and wait for the right time?

Thank you for your reply,

So you would recommend me to enter now? Thinking of doing a cash account with Endowus

Everything is low now. Regardless of whatever platform or DIY, now is the golden time to enter. But only enter if you don't kanchiong over short term fluctuations/drops.

Even for those who previously entered, those who are smart and got spare cash should pump more in now, borrowing against your future deposits (i.e. you pump more now, then when market recover, you don't put in as much so that your total contribution for the year is still the same, simply put).

Of course, goes without saying to DCA ah, don't one time throw in.

They got a webinar soon, may hear want their CIO got to say about investing now.

The thing is I feel that they are very "by the book " investing. Not sure if you are going to get more outcome than "be invested long term, we will manage your money systematically for you".

You may appreciate that he is a ex CEO and CIO of Morgan Stanley investment management Asia Pacific though. His level way higher than the other robos CIO/CEO equivalent.

Monthly a bit too long a duration. 1k per week is better, in my opinion. But that'll mean you got 2k spare per month right (since you budget about 6k per month)?

Here's a suggestion. Do 1k per week for now. Then whenever you see 2 days in the red, you pump 500 in as a bonus, to safely secure some assets when they're low. That way, you'll have 4 times to pump which will total the 2k leftover per month. If you see like 3 or even 4 days in the red, then same principle, you borrow the $2k against next month's planned balance and pump in today.

It's just that governing principle ah.

It's a more hands-on version of DCA wherein you can try to scoop up extra when things look like they're low.

Thanks for the suggestion. I also leaning towards weekly. If 50k divided by week i have 1.4k to dump until the end of the year.

And yea great suggestion to borrow next months balance to pump today if market is in the red for more than 3 or 4 days.

Why not do interactive brokers cash? Dividend withholding tax efficient. Low cost etf. No recurring cost

Hmm.. Dow/s&p already drop about 30%.. more than 20% consider bear market.. they're too late to change now as it will incurring heavy loss. I started investing my SRS funds last week and it's down -15% on 30% portfolio..
