I am also planning for a short cruise vacation. Was at first looking at Star Cruise but out of say 10, 8 voted for RCI over SC hence switching to RCI. Also, this may be my one and only Cruise Vacations and wanted to bring along my 2 elder parents (could be their first and last Cruise as they are already in their 70s).

However, my main problem is my Dad is wheelchair bound. Also, since this could be the only Cruise Vacations I would be going, I am looking for a Balcony Room. Does the C&E one include Suites?

I did an online RCI planning and found the 3N Weekend Cruise suitable for my family. The only dates that have Junior Suite with Balcony and also WheelChair friendly is the one sailing on 28th Nov and return on 1st Dec. It would be Deck Ten #1608. The pricing is not going to be cheap consider School Holidays period hence the cost is at around SGD 3,212.60.

Is my planning feasible?

The only thing that stopped me from booking is waiting for my Boss to be back from Firm Trip and discussed with him about my this Cruise Vacation plan and seeking his approval prior to applying my leave before committing to book.

Any advises would be gladly appreaciated.

Warmest Regards,
CT :)

I think my opinions should differ from others but you can just take them as considerations.

I believe it is best to speak to an agent (travel or RCI) to find out what are the cheapest rates available. RCI planning may not yield the cheapest options and you may miss out on some promos available. To me, a 3D2N cruise vacation is simply for eating and chilling, plus there isn't a lot you can do onboard, so the value isn't quite there. Hence I will just take whatever cheapest stateroom and off-peak period rates. Anything above $400 per pax would be deemed expensive to me.

Of course you might want to give your folks a luxurious vacation and willing to splurge a bit, in which case I would still recommend you to talk to a RCI agent to see if there is anything of concern to wheelbound passengers that you might need to take note of.

Hi

Maybe u can consider to book the cruise dates for next year. Now they are having book early promotion for the next year date. But there was no advertisement, i get it know when i call RCI. It will save you quite some money, if you compare for the dec 14 and Feb 15 cruises.

Hi there, while making the booking i do noticed there are some wheelchair accessible deluxe balcony room (lowest fare for balcony rooms) Deck 8, but unsure if there is any connected room to it.

You can try to make a dummy online reservation as it allow you to select the rooms you wanted.

For a 3N weekend cruise at around 3.2k is quite exp in my opinion

haha, will share my experience onboard when returned

there are quite a few local bloggers sharing their experiences on their Mar 2014 and Dec 2014 Mariner of the Seas, all with very good positive feedbacks (they self paid the trips so its not adveritising by RCI)

keywords: Mariner of the Seas blog

i meant that those bloggers are not invited or paid, so their reviews were all "true" in a sense and not being bribe or something :s13:

i go by traditional dining 8pm, was told that the 5.45pm slot are full. also dont think my in laws like fine dining hence might not be going for it often and most of the time should be going for buffet ba

u mean u need to be contacted everyday? from my understanding they have to be in the open seas in order for their casino to operate at night so u wont get any signal there at all. just prepare all 3, msia, thai and indo to try ur luck during the days lor

u will stop by 3 ports ma for the next 3 days, so u can get Msia and Thailand prepaid cards for calling, the prob is the last 2d1n cruising

anyway those bro/sis that went on Royal Caribbean before, need to ask if they accept USD bills onboard or will they only deduct any fees onboard to the credit card that you opt for during the check in?

and also, are the pools onboard sea water or those normal swim pools water?

No guarantee you will get any signal even on Msia or Indo SIM card in the middle of the sea unless it is near to the port.

By the way Port Klang have free wifi at the port.
