I posted this at Corbell section, but wanted to get some opinions here too, basically i tried a few numbers of driver versions, as well as graphic options, but games that used to run just suddenly cannot run anymore :

hi guys, i was playing the new game Anthem today when suddenly the game hung (with a DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG), i tried to get back to the game various time but they will all hang somewhere while loading the game. I was playing the game fine since the demo and early access, so atleast 20 hrs of play time at ultra setting before this issue.

I tried install latest nvidia driver, uninstalling and installing older version, but all didnt work.

I later tried GTA5 and Fallout3 and was shock to see artifacts on them, the game hang afterwards. I was able to play them fine before.

Basically no game seems to run on my PC now.
Seems like an issue for others too: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/1079168/geforce-rtx-20-series/rtx2070-game-crashes/1/

Does this qualify for RMA?

Got spare gpu to test? If not most probably gpu issue.

If not try uninstalling games and install again but not anthem this time. Maybe is anthem causing issue

Memory stability affects GPU driver stability a lot too.

If you're on a manual memory oc, see if the issue persists on DDR4-2133.

lots of issues reported worldwide with rtx gpu.
Apparently its caused by premature failure of the Micron made Vrams.

The moment you see artifact, GPU about to go GG. But if you can open it up (no warranty stickers covering the screws), then can try resit the cooler to the GPU since too tight may cause such a problem. But better to just get a new one.

I tot only affect 2080ti?

Sent from Home using GAGT

The RTX 2080Ti is pushed hard, so any problems will surface faster. While there was speculation its the VRAMs, HardOCP don't think that is the case because their RTX 2080Ti that failed few hours after testing got replaced with one that comes with Samsung VRAMs (previously was Micron). The replacement failed after 16 hours of testing if I did not recall incorrectly. Same artifecting problem.

did you overclock it using OC Scanner

might be a case of mis-use

Yeah I OC it with the recommended settings from OC scanner that come with the msi afterburner. I will be very surprised if that is what killed the GPU outright after just 3 months, I don't even game much these days and Anthem is the only title I have that will need so much juice. (except GTA5 but which I did not play at all since my save game disappeared after changing comp)

I followed the guide in the MSI website while using the afterburner:
https://www.msi.com/blog/get-a-free-performance-boost-with-afterburner-oc-scanner

OK, while I don't have a gpu sitting around, I do have another running PC so i unplug its GTX960 and replace the 2070, and... all 3 games loaded and ran fine...
