I'd say the difference will be minimal. The 2070 is a direct replacement for 1080 and 2070 Super is a slightly better 2070 (~5-10% improvement).

RTX 2070S can get close to GTX 1080Ti in performance at 1440p so while you do get an improvement, I won't call it a great improvement.

I agree with you too.. I came from a GTX1080 GPU and X34A previously and only with an RTX2080TI could I game at 100 FPS consistently in most games at max settings. Buying RTX2080 Super though should do the job too but may need to adjust some settings.

so only 2080 super will do the trick? 2080ti way too ex
RTX 2080 Super cheapest around $1100, RTX 2080 Ti cheapest around $1600 while the latter's improvement over RTX 2080 Super is noticeably greater than RTX 2080.

But i would rather you upgrade CPU to at least 6 cores first.

A six core 3600 would be marginally better than 6700k. I don't think it's worth upgrading as you'll need to get a mobo too.

It's not a good upgrade from GTX 1080 to 2070 Super. I rather you just overclock your existing card to squeeze more performance out of it, rather than waste money getting the current gen cards. You need to be mindful that 7nm Nvidia cards should arrive next year.

My point is moving forward quad cores are reaching saturation, especially for higher resolution (1440p & above) gaming. TS is also going to upgrade to a much more powerful card than his GTX 1080. His 6700K is going to hold back.

As seen from your video, some games at higher res are seeing pronounced fps improvement just by upgrading to a hexa core.
