What the scalpers don't realize is that the longer they hold onto their stocks, the more the GPU depreciates. Even if you buy a BNIB GPU, it doesn't mean you enjoy full warranty because the warranty starts on the date of purchase.

Suppose a GPU bought on 2 Dec 2020 has 3 year distributor warranty. If the second buyer buys it on 2 Dec 2023, even if it is BNIB, it basically has no more warranty because the distributor will track the warranty validity according to the date of purchase receipt.

Be conscious of that when you buy brand new from scalpers.

Secondly, the cost of a GPU is amortized by the length of its warranty, starting with the date of purchase receipt. If the original buyer bought at $900 with 3 year warranty and used it for one year, the resale value of the GPU is not worth more than $600.

Be conscious of that when you buy 2nd hand GPUs.

Unfortunately GPU depreciation does not follow book value depreciation in real world become $0 after end of warranty.

End of warranty GPU still command at high price (at least 40% and above) now like 2000 series in second hand market or carousell.

i've shared this info on another thread so i just wanna share with those here that is waiting to get this card but yet to do so, in hope that the price will slowly go down once stock is normalised. my advice to you is that, it's not gonna happen anytime soon. in fact, it will most likely rise further up due to increase in vram cost.

3060Ti is currently the number 1 mining card for many due its mining efficiency and low cost compared to other 30 series card. it can mine at the same hashrate as a 3070, which is why you see miners rarely sourcing for 3070 but is usually willing to buy 3060Ti from scalpers as long as it doesnt go near the price of a 3070.

actually those who tell you that mining is not profitable, has most probably never tried mining themselves.

as long as you are able to overclock/underclock and undervolt your gpu well enough, mining actually sucks lesser power than gaming. but you wont game 24/7 so its not a good comparison.

i'll let pictures do the talking instead. this is more or less the max hashrate that you can attain with a 3070, which is around 60+MH/s.

with a core underclock of -502MHz (max the afterburner slider will go)
mem overclock of +1400MHz
power limit of 58%

yea this is why rtx cards are in such short supplies. you get to achieve max hashrate with just 128-130W of power. and im using windows 10, not even any mining dedicated os.

so just this one card alone, with my fixed rate elect rate of $0.1778 per kW/h, and the current price of btc which touched usd$50k for a moment today, there is a profit of around S$10 a day.

oh yea, the reason why miners are hunting for the 3060Ti like gold, is because it mine at exactly the same hashrate as the 3070, but you pay 3060Ti price instead.

From my experience selling on carousell, the warranty dosent matter. I managed to get asus, msi cards on Amazon to sell on carousell before. Just say 'international warranty' most people will believe. They only more concerned about being sealed and receipt included which all my sets have so I can sell at a higher price.

But from what I know the warranty process is very difficult. Not impossible but it's a hassle. But dosent matter for me, any issue next time will be at the buyer's responsibility I don't really care.
