OMG VEGA IS RX490X ???? damn that power of the gpu with HBM 2

seems like it gonna fight head to head with GTX 1080ti (GTX 1080 might lose in paper spec xD). hope nvidia release their top end to see the fights :s13:

200W is slightly higher den GTX 1080 tdp, but still AIB can always throw in another 6 pins or 8 pins for OC enthusiast.

Ah, so they are launching a new line of cards with different architecture this time round, and finally ditching the rebadged method. So they finally learn their lessons.

480/x will run on Polaris 10 while the 490/x on the higher end will run on Vega with HBM2.

Time to save up.

Now we need to see the price tag :D

Definitely wont be cheap.

HBM yields are not much. It is expensive, yet alone HBM2 and 16gb worth of memory.

This card will cost a lot more than the older cards such as Fury X.

And i suspect, this isnt the highest end card either lol.

Fury is also 4096:256:64

So this is pretty much a die shrink of Fury. Which, considering the lateness of Fury to the generation, I won't be surprised if AMD decides to use this design as the flagship for this generation.

This is the highest end specs in forseeable future. Its equal to 290X die size that is release within 6 month of HD 7970, which wasnt the case back in 2012

Anyway AMD is already ramping up their performance on the new node.

But as I calculated, dont expect a big miracle jump. The shader increase is 77%, but the real world performance is probably 70% even with HBM, and it wont be 16GB as indicated either until much later timeframe. (in 2017?)

Given that the 1080 is 40-50% faster than 480 at least, Vega will most likely top at 10-20% above 1080, giving it performance below 10% of 1080 Ti or more against Titan Pascal.

No it wont, it will be the scale up version of Polaris but it could be build in modular fashion similar of Fury X.

Fury X is way too inefficient to say the least. There is no way they will use back the old GCN architecture if they want to stand any chance against the big pascal.

200W is very good for a top/high end chip. The memory bandwidth is nuts. :s22:

200W is what make me feel this specs is "fake"

Its going to be 250W at least unless it uses a completely new architecture (once again)

1.8 shader increase x 150W = 270W.

HBM can shave 20W -> 250W TDP.

The power part looks too good to be true.

A binned chip like the R9 Nano did 175W on TDP on 28nm.

Also, Polaris's "Power: 150W" portion of their keynote is interesting. It is likely not TDP. PCI-E power 75W+ PCI-E 6 pin caps power draw at 150W max already. 1080/1070 FE is 75+150W. This could be more efficient than we think. Remember mid range HD 7870 200mm^2+ chip? 175W TDP IIRC but 2 6 pin PCIE.

If power efficiency really like GCN 1.0 they can fly kite in notebook enthusiast segment already.

Btw, the site listing isn't even a rumour. Just speculated/forecasted specifications. It's like GSMarena (smartphones), notebookcheck (laptops) etc. They always put up a page in advance for hit counts moolah.
