Hi all, do your ovens rust? Mine always rust after 1 year, some even less. Latest below just past 1 year. Dun think it's safe to continue using right?

Seems like every year have to change? Quite taxing. Any idea to lengthen lifespan?

Thx.

I thought most of the time oven will be too greasy to rust this badly.... :s22:
Thats what i thought also. Also, the rusty area is behind the heating bars and i also seldom clean the oven.

The heating bars will also warp after 1 year or so. is that common?

What brand of ovens have you been using? Or is it your cleaning/maintenance issue? Really have to see the extent of warping though... slight warpage is normal but you don't want it to short against something

I also never cleaned the walls. Will leave it open to air dry from now onwards.

I always thought is cause I always buy cheap ovens. Those $100 or less type.

As in pic above, the top back bar is now 'U' shape.

How you guys maintain the oven to prevent rust?
Do you like clean the oven as soon as humanly possible then close the cover up immediately? Use a very wet cloth to wipe down?

Should be just high humidity than actual water contact causing the rust if you say got hard to reach places rusting as well.

Cheap might explain the heating element warpage but the rusting is a bit bad even for a cheap oven...

TS may be putting very wet items in his oven.
Maybe TS is operating some business that needs hot and wet towels.

Most ovens really is covered in oil that will protect it forever.
me thinks that it has nothing to do w/ wet items bring put inside or anythin'

just ard mid last year, me had disposed a m/w oven, where the rims of the door had rusted so badly, even tho' it's still working good

had to 'cos me fears that it might contaminate the food or the gap will leave it unsafe to be used for much longer

perhaps the reason being the failure to wipe clean after use
prolonged usage & the condensation that builds over time, somehow the possible cause for it to rust

probably apply to any kind of ovens if we failed to do such basic cleaning after each use
or at least once/wk?

🤷‍♂️

Buy new one… oven cost how much only… don’t go rub here and then wait rust drop onto your food while heating…

The pic shows the top (ceiling) of the oven. As can be seen, the rust is focused behind the 2 bars. The back bar is the warped one.

I have already ordered a new one. Just trying to find ways to increase the lifespan.

k
now me can see it :s22:

my conclusion is condensation, over time
hence that result

but honestly me rarely wipe those heating coils
just the walls' inner surface but yea, could be the cause

perhaps the quality of the brand plays the part as well :o

I also never clean one. It's always the area behind the 2 bars that rust alot. The other walls only a bit which I think should be normal wear and tear.
