My cpu temps hover at 40 degree

I read that this is considered high. I have reapplied thermal paste but it did not make a difference. What can I do to lower the temps

load can be up to 85 also normal

Honestly your idle and load temps depend on Ambient temperature so if you are in a hot room, your CPU will naturally be hotter

Online comparison is moot unless they tell you their Ambient temperature

Normal. Don't think too much.

need to do water cooling, AMD processors are hot like fries to poop
if you don't use water cooling, the heat will come on strong and hot

Try undervolting -0.05v or use eco mode

Or, aio pump at full speed, fan at medium speed

What have you been smoking
Intel has also been hot (arguably hotter) in recent gens

Also you don't need water cooling, the main benefit of water is increased thermal capacity so temperature doesn't spike as fast for burst workloads, otherwise in a steady state operation an air cooler with similar radiator surface area will match a water cooling setup.

40 is normal, if let's say this temperature is achieved at room temperature of 28 degrees, it's about 12 degrees over Ambient which is good already

The AIO lousy.

My idle temps using an air cooler is only @ 36.5... and the CO is at only -5. The cores section is untouched too.


If it's at CO -15 like yours, it should be able to go even lower.

Difference of 1.3c and said the AIO is lousy, you need to be better and grow up.

I was also thinking one of the 2 main issues here is the AIO cooler. I have used Corsair AIOs before, and I am not impressed with the cooling performance. Just as @Phen8210 mentioned, my experience was almost the same. Essentially the Corsair water cooler caused the CPU to thermal throttle with the fans sounding like an air raid siren running at max RPM when I was using a 3900X at that time. Replacing it with a Scythe Fuma 2 stopped the thermal throttling while dropping both idle and load temps.

The other issue of course is that the 5800X have too high a power limit at stock. Just by reducing the power limit, I lost about 5% multicore performance, but shaved a solid 10 degrees off the temps.

mine with NZXT AIO, normal web use right now 35 degrees.
No aircon using fan in room, weather sort of cool now.

Bro 40 degrees is normal, no need to improve. Don’t believe online cause they maybe have different environment than Singapore.

I want to violate the laws of physics and have my CPU be lower than ambient purely by air cooling

In all seriousness tho, regardless of air or water cooling, it is impossible for CPU to be below air/water temperature, usually they will be like 10 degrees above ambient or so.

Often those reviewers are in cold countries or they have offices that are set to 20c to 21c so their results are based on that. Even on forums like reddit as well where people can come from all over the world ranging from snowy canada to scorching dubai.

That's why I prefer reviewers to state delta over ambient like gamers nexus.

now this is a wise sentence.. some don't understand as they don't experience what's call winter or summer, we all time round hot and humid .. 29 to 30 degrees.. most of the time when YT reviewers saying temps like 86 Degrees with Liquid AIOs.. to me is more like 93 degrees. on our end we really need to pump down the TDP manually or to offset the Vcore volatges.

Ya.. people usually see the chart and take it as it is without seeing the process. I can throw my PC in the fridge and run the reading, yet people will believe me.

Or I can take a benchmark of a game at its most deserted area to get the highest FPS, and people will say the game can run very well after looking at it.

Tbh I already give up haha
