Ryzen or Core? Budget content creation

Been a while since I am looking at building a system and AMD's return to relevancy made me excited. Still, reading a ton of benchmarks isn't helping me piece out a system, so want to ask the experts here.

Mostly video editing, but multitasking expected.

A possible baseline system I am thinking of is as follows (prices from Fuwell):

Ryzen 5 1600 with MSI Tomahawk 482
2 x Corsair Vengenace 3000Mhz 8GB 269
Geforce GTX1050Ti 4GB 259
CM 600W PSU 85

Total: 1095

Budget around $1.2.

I have a case and SSD handy. But I was wondering if paying for the 'Intel Premium' and going for a i7-7600K makes sense, given that I will have two added cores going for the Ryzen to help with the multitasking workflow.

Or I can pony up the extra and go for a 1060 6GB.

Any advice will be kindly appreciated.

What video editing software? In general, ryzen is better at encoding videos as they scale with more threads/cores.

Have to take into consideration that gpus not really important for his video editing software as they rely more on cores/clockspeed. Although the i7 8700k comes at a premium, it comes with discrete graphics which is enough for vodeo editing.

I strongly recommend going for Ryzen 5 1600 for your setup particularly when you are looking at content creation. Bundled with a decent B350 board is much cheaper than an Intel i5 8400 with pricey Z370 motherboard. If you are not into gaming like me, GTX 1050 TI is more than enough. I suggest you check the price of the graphic card from places like Lazada because I can find Zotac or Palit GTX 1050 Ti going for 209 to 219 bucks. Even without discount code, it is already cheaper than the 259 that you mentioned.

It still depends as the person I am building it for does play some minor games at night while rendering.

If you don't like to mess around with OC you can consider 1600X. Now buy come with free and good cooler and the 1600X will auto turbo boost itself to 4.0ghz guaranteed.

I have not been buying from shops directly for a number of years, but I feel you may need to reconfirm the price of the CPU+Mobo bundle from TradePac. I recall they always quote a cheap price on their list, but when you are not buying a full bundle from them, you will need to top up extra just for the CPU+mobo bundle.

Also, if you get the GPU and PSU together and have a Standard Chartered credit card, you can use the 30 bucks off 250 spent discount code.

Nowadays i rather buy my CPU and motherboard separately off online platforms like Lazada/Qoo10.

For example, my own AMD Ryzen 5 1600 + MSI B350M Mortar Arctic saved about $100 off retail...
