Nowadays i rather buy my CPU and motherboard separately off online platforms like Lazada/Qoo10.

For example, my own AMD Ryzen 5 1600 + MSI B350M Mortar Arctic saved about $100 off retail...

there must be some conditions else wouldn't be so easy to get $100 off retail base on 1 time purchase.

How much did you shell out in the end for the bundle? Before I decided to get my CPU and motherboard from Amazon, I considered quite a few options from Qoo10 and Lazada. Despite the 100 bucks coupon from Qoo10, I feel the items are pretty marked up, i.e. 349 for R5 1600. Even the MATX B350 board was also marked up by about 20 bucks. In the end, the cost savings is quite small as compared to the bundle price from shops like TradePac.

Oh for my Ryzen 5 1600 there is a markup of $10 but i got 20% off $300 Wogi GC. Hence, saved $50 effectively. And mobo (with no markup) saved another $30 from Fuzzie 20% off $150 GC...

Saving is $80 cos forget about the markups...

Even if consider storefront bundle discount around $10-20, my savings was still pretty substantial + free delivery to doorstep + no need go down SLS bargain.

And i'll rather get Intel Core i5-8400 + ASRock Z370M Pro4 @ $432.

I feel Ryzen is better in terms of content creation and productivity, although it can't compete in games.

Anyway, it is interesting to see the i5 8400 bundle price being so close to the Ryzen bundle. I feel local pricing particularly for B350 boards are too expensive. I managed to buy my Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 for less than 100 SGD from Amazon.
