Hi lads,

Looking to set up a rig mainly for Overwatch, CS:GO, Dota 2 and the occasional FIFA 17 at max settings. No peripherals needed. Monitor currently runs at 60hz.

I've decided on two possible builds at different price points and specifications and would like your advice before I pull the trigger.

G4560 + Asus H110M-A M.2 D4 @ S$182
Zotac GTX 1050Ti OC Dual @S$233
Kingston 8GB 2133mhz RAM @ S$85
PNY 256GB SSD @ S$132
FSP Hexa+ 450W @ S$56
Tecware F3 @ S$40
Win10 @ S$25 max

Total @ S$753

OR

i5-7500 + Asus H110M-A M.2 D4 @ S$370
Asus Dual GTX 1060 3GB OC @ S$334 / Asus STRIX RX570 4GB OC @ S$359
Kingston 8GB 2133mhz RAM @ S$85
PNY 256GB SSD @ S$132
FSP Hexa+ 450W @ S$56
Tecware F3 @ S$40
Win10 @ S$25 max

Total @ S$1042 (GTX 1060) / S$1067 (RX570)

Prices are from various SLS vendors and may vary slightly should I purchase from online sources.

The latter build is obviously better but it feels like an overkill seeing that the former would meet my needs with S$300 to spare. I'm also not sure if a 450W PSU would be enough for the latter build.

Any suggestions to improve the builds are well appreciated. Cheers!

1060 for sure.
But do consider upping to 550w psu to allow some ceilling for upgrade in future, as gpu is usually the bottleneck of the system for gaming.

Possible to share where did you get these prices?

GTX1060 is actually more comparable to RX580 if I remember correctly. Anyway the 1060 is a good card, would recommend going with it

If you have the budget, your latter build is better imo. Because for your first build, your next GPU upgrade will definitely be bottlenecked by CPU, so you will need to upgrade that as well.

Thanks for all your replies fellas.

I'll most probably be going with the latter build with some tweaks as I'm also looking to upgrade to a 144hz monitor (poisoned!).

Will a i5-7500 + GTX 1060 6GB combo handle OW, CSGO and Dota 2 at 1080p144hz (max settings)?

The build with a 6GB GTX 1060 will definitely exceed the S$1100 mark but I'll seriously consider forking out the additional S$100+ if it could handle the aforesaid games at 1080p144hz.
