Hi guys

I have a couple of questions about this bag, which I just purchased from emart during my last ICT. Pictures attached below for easy reference.

1) Are there any other color variants of this bag for the Singapore Navy and Singapore Air Force? Since I'm from the Army, I'm not able to view any emart supplies from the Navy and Air Force. I went to check Mt Faber SAFRA emart few weeks ago but they don't have it.

2) This bag comes with a very hard backing at the back, which I don't really like as it adds quite a bit of weight to it. The only good thing about this hard backing is to maintain the shape of the bag. During my ICT, one of my buddies actually have this bag, without the hard backing at the back of the bag. Is the backing removable or does anyone know if any emart sells this bag without the backing?

This is my buddy's bag label without the hard backing at the back of his bag. His bag feels quite soft and "nua" but way lighter and easier to carry.

I think your buddy is holding to the old version of the utility bag.

The one you have is the newer version. REC these days use this bag to book out instead of the field pack, thats why day bag has the hard backing now.

D&G makes other variants/color of the bag in Air Force Pixelised Pattern but it's cash item

I see.. Quite a number of my friends actually have the same version as mine, with the hard backing. No complaints from them so far as they use this bag for traveling overseas and normal day to day use. They don't seem to mind the hard backing either.

The "older version" of the bag without the hard backing seems uncommon as I don't seem to see it often. It's just my personal preference without the backing as it is lighter and more flexible, but it is hard to maintain it's shape when placed in an upright position.

You mentioned that REC these days used this bag to book out, are they issued with one when they enlist? This bag of mine is standard issue to new recruits?

This one the assault pack right. If it is designed the similar way as the field pack, you would be able to remove the hard backing

Had the old utility pack - would much rather have the backing; stuff in my bag kept poking my back. Other variants for the other services are not available from eMart if I'm not wrong.

I think so? During my NSF days many years ago, I've heard many names for this bag. Section commander bag, Assault pack, Technician bag etc.. Just learned that now recruits carry this as well. I name it Day Bag in the topic name based on emart listing name.

I've flipped the bag inside out already, can't seem to find any opening.. Seems like the hard backing is sewn in... :(

True lah... If you put in uneven shaped items, can feel the items poking your back because no hard backing.

Question: Anyone knows the official dimensions for this bag? How many liters? :s12:
