Hi all,
Plan to spend a day at Arashiyama. My accomodation would be in Karasuma Oike. Would it be better to
Option 1 :
(1a) Take subway to Nijo
(1b) Then JR Sagano line to Saga Arashiyama Station.
(1c) From here, I am a bit confused...do I take the Sagano Romantic Train to Torokko Arashiyama station to reach Bamboo Forest? Or do I take the Sagano Romantic Train to Torokko Saga station to reach Bamboo Forest? Or do I just walk from Saga Arashiyama Station to Bamboo Forest?
Or Option 2 :
(2a) Take subway to Nijo
(2b) Then JR Sagano line to Umahori Station
(2c) Then walk to Torokko Kameoka station, board Sagano Romantic Train
(2d) Again like 1c, which station do I alight exactly to reach Bamboo Forest?
I will not be doing the Hozugawa river cruise though...
Also, seen from somewhere there is night illumination in Arashiyama for around 10 days in December. Is it worth staying till night for it?
Many thanks in advance for your tips!
