I'll be visiting Osaka/Kyoto/Miyajima/Kanazawa/Gero onsen/Nagoya/Kawazu in mid-end Feb.

Do u think I'll still need a winter jacket? Or just a regular autumn jacket (for 12-20 degrees) will do?
I'm only worried that even if autumn jacket suffices for most of the trip, but Kanazawa and Gero onsen might be too cold without winter jacket.

I really wanna avoid bring both jackets.

forecast for gero shi is 8 deg next thu, i think by the 20s maybe just over 12 deg midday... i would dress warmer for mornings and evenings

Reporting in from hama rikyu gardens in Tokyo where a couple of (I guess) plum trees decided not to wait for the others and to start blooming ...

btw it really doesn't feel like winter in Tokyo at all. Daytime above 10deg close to 15deg leh, feels similar cold-ness as 2 years ago Sakura season ...

Tomorrow I planning to go Odawara, not sure if the plum trees started blossoming yet though.

Reporting in from Odawara. Although the weather was "only" around 6-9deg, it ended up being COLD thanks to wind + long term exposure (wife and I spent I think 4-5 hours outdoors?).

By a rough estimation I think around 25% of the trees are decently blooming (like the pic) ... another 25% in various stages of bloom and the remaining 50% still buds only no flowers. Probably within next few weeks will be perfect.

Oh, also ... Odawara castle is under earthquake restoration until April ...

3 plums trees had early stage blooming at Toji Temple in Kyoto last Saturday.

A couple of plum trees also had signs of early stage blooming at Nabana no Sato when I was there last Tuesday.

today was very warm, but it wasn't as warm here in kyoto as compared to some other parts of the country... but it is already warm enough that even though it is raining heavily here this evening, it felt almost like those cold rainy seasons in dec back in sg...

seems that a sakura tree in wakayama has bloomed..

Cool.. I'm flying next week. Except now I don't know to pack thick jacket or thin sweater will so. Seems like the weather is pretty erratic.

The plum blossoms shld be just nice when I visit. First time to Japan.. Haha :D
