With higher-than-average temperatures expected in late February and early March, Japan’s Weather Net meteorological organization is saying that Tokyo will be seeing the first sakura of the season almost a full week earlier than the Japan Meteorological Corporation forecast we looked at back in January.

According to Weather Map’s calculations, the sakura will start to open in Tokyo on March 17, and also in Fukuoka on the same day.

Of course, Japan’s cherry blossoms are at their most beautiful when entire trees are covered in the flowers’ pink petals. Weather Map is also predicting earlier-than-usual dates for full bloom.

Philosopher's Path is quite a long walk but very scenic.

Keage Incline is a bit out of the way and hard to get to but seems interesting.

Gion area and the temples are very nice.
Cherry blossoms with background of traditional temples and architecture is amazing
There is a giant cherry blossom tree in the pedestrian area in Gion that is really popular.

hi,

i am planning to do my hanami in tohoku on the following dates, could i have some critique and input :

23 - 25 : Morioka visit Kakunodate, Kitakami
25 - 27th : hirosaki - hirosaki castle
27th - 28th : hakodate -goryokaku park, hachiman zaka

i am worried about visiting hakodate on 27th, it seems going by past reports, full bloom wouldn't reach the hakodate until 29th. Is it a bit suboptimal to go to hakodate on 27th?

I plan to catch some leftover sakura in kyoto on hirano shrine, and maybe some yaezakura in nara park around 20th april.

additionally, i heard this website provides forecasts straight from JMC, How accurate exactly are they compared to hanami walkerplus?

I booked 26th Mar - 1 April i also feel abit sian. I think by the time I'm there, it would be 3-4 days into full bloom already.

Everyday monitoring Tokyo temperatures and I'm seeing 21-22 degrees temp not too far off from SG recently LOL. In my memory this is more like late April temperatures. I think the flowers gonna bloom real soon probably next week or so.

hello everyone,

i am feeling worried about the recent trend on the sakura forecast. it seems to be getting earlier than usual.

My travelling dates are as follows, in april :

23 - 25 : Morioka visit Kakunodate, Kitakami
25 - 27th : Hirosaki Castle ( stay in odate)
27th - 28th : hakodate -goryokaku park, hachiman zaka

Most of the sakura forecast predicts as the following for my places of interest:

Morioka :
Taakamatsu pond expected full bloom april 17th
Kakunodate : expected full bloom 4/21
Kitakami : expected full bloom 4.17
Hirosaki : 4/19 and 4/23
Hakodate : 4/26

should i remodify my whole schedule, by cutting time in morioka, and spending more time around hirosaki and hakodate?

Will the view still be good, for sakura after a week of full bloom?

I think your itinerary seems ok.

After a week of full bloom, will still be able to see some flowers but of course, wouldnt have full flowering tree.
Still pretty though as the ground will be full of white pink petals.

It is very very random.
If there is rain, then goodbye to all the flowers...so hope for no rain.

These estimates are still estimates, not set in stone.
